Just thought I'd make a new thread for the sole purpose of investment in altcoins. This is all to do with newbie trading and what people think is a bright future in terms of altcoins and trading. Personally I believe IFC (Infinitecoins) are being extremely stable right now along with TIX that are perfect for newbie investors that don't really want to put in large quantities. IFC could be integrated globally and TIX due to it's development and marketing could be a great example of a gambling coin and purchasing coin done well. CUE SPECULATION. What are you newbies investing in?

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

Gold and silver are considered by many to fit the bill.  Held value for many thousands of years, it is likely that has not changed.  IMHO get some AG, AU, then some BTC and LTC, maybe feathercoin too.  It pays not to keep all your eggs in one basket!

None, you could as well gamble with your money.
There is no altcoin with a "bright future" out there yet imo.

You're basing this on what?
a coin with almost non exsistant services?

It's the best and most popular alt coin, stop the hate already, some of you bitcoiners sound like the banksters who are against btc who try to put btc down. In this case you are the banksters trying to hate on ltc instead of supporting it

That has no meaning since Litecoin can be build into any service or application as easy as Bitcoin.
On the other side Litecoin simply provides the nessecary liquidity (number of units) for bigger markets
which is limited to 21E14 for Bitcoins  Grin (the EZB has given out something around this as EURO).

So my expectation is that the future will bring combined services for LTC/BTC and the exchange rate
will go to 0.25

Gold Pressed Latinum as soon as it's on sale.  Should be this week at the upcoming scifi coin exchange.

If we think about long term, I would invest in "good name" coins like WDC DGC even RYC- they may be easily implemented by masses.
If at some time BTC become popular as facebook - "obvious choices" will won. There will be competition on facebook who got better sounding coins - my uncle, grandpa or friend from primary school. Smiley

I see your point.  But more people already love startrek then BTC

When the trek mainstream start to learn and understand that coins and the services that are muted,  then the it becomes clear.  these type of coins have a real chance.  Think how many billions of Trekkie would love to go to star-trek convention and buy goods with real gold pressed latinum with a real word value.

For me it has bags of potential.

It is still the "wild west", I do not recommend "investing" more than you can risk losing and be comfortable with.

If you are looking for proven alternatives in coin, that would, of course, be elements that have symbols like AU and AG

As for the these new currencies, BTC and LTC stand head and shoulders above the rest.

All of this is, of course, IMHO and other opinions will vary.

SXC... You can say people love Startrek, but even more people love porn.. It's hard to get solid figures on, but it's estimated to have an annual turnover of 10-14 billion dollars.

If you get over being childish or prudish, you may actually see the business opportunity.. "marrying" what are essentially digital goods to a digital currency..

And of course offering anonmynity to the user, defeating freindly fraud, and allowing the industry to adopt a microtransactional business model..

It's a high risk investment, there's no debate there... But it's also high profit, considering the potential.
