Download the Litecoin client if you don't already have it: https://litecoin.org/
If you do have the client already, copy the binary to a new folder!

*** Back up your existing wallet first, just in case! ***

Make a new file in your Litecoin data directory: litecoin.conf
Add a line in the file: testnet=1

Windows: make a new file in your Litecoin install folder, where litecoin-qt is located: run.bat
Add a line in the file: litecoin-qt.exe -datadir=%~dp0

Run the run.bat file to start the client.

Linux/Mac: same litecoin.conf setting as above, then run the binary using -datadir=/path/to/your/litecoin/testnet/directory/

Run the client in testnet mode and get your testnet address. Post your address here and I'll send you 500 coins! Go to http://litecointools.com and get my coins!

Here's an address to test sending your coins: mvoZ3sQLrpeYGR754cyc44ny5gXENPLcrC - you can send them around to other people who post in this thread too!

Test out the features of the client with the console window (Help>Debug window>Console) by typing "help" into it.

Download the Litecoin client if you don't already have it: https://litecoin.org/
If you do have the client already, copy the binary to a new folder!*

*** Back up your existing wallet first, just in case! ***

Make a new file: litecoin.conf
Add a line in the file: testnet=1

Windows: make a new file: run.bat
Add a line in the file: litecoin-qt.exe -datadir=%~dp0
Doing the above will make the Litecoin client save the files to where you run litecoin-qt.exe from. If you don't use the -datadir flag, it might overwrite your existing wallet!

Linux/Mac: run the binary using the -datadir=/path/to/directory/of/binary flag
  * If your binary is installed in the system, you can just call it with the above flag without copying the file locally.

Run the client in testnet mode and get your testnet address. Post your address here and I'll send you 500 coins!

Here's an address to test your coins with: mvoZ3sQLrpeYGR754cyc44ny5gXENPLcrC - you can send them around to other people who post in this thread too!

Test out the features of the client with the console window (Help>Debug window>Console) by typing "help" into it.

Client is running in windows.

you said,

Make a new file: litecoin.conf
Add a line in the file: testnet=1

Windows: make a new file: run.bat
Add a line in the file: litecoin-qt.exe -datadir=%~dp0

ok, make a new file : litecoin.etc and do what with it... where?

Make run.bat and do what with that and where?

Do you see where I am coming from?

Thanks.

Is it not amazing? That in the sub-micro world of the atom, quantum physics requires the perpetual motion of particles with both spin and orbital motions.

Yet in the macro world, mainstream science is based upon the law that a perpetual motion machine is absolutely impossible!

This is the embarrassing state of today's science...
