Do they still wobble and hit the fan case even at higher fan speeds?

I have 2 gigabyte GPUs that hit the fan case upon OS startup. However, when i start mining and the fans speed up, the hitting sound is gone.
Been mining with them for 4 months now without problem.

What could be the way? Unscrew the old fan and fasten in its place a new one. I recommend that you Unscrew the cooling radiator and replace the thermal paste with this procedure. But removing the remnants of the old paste can create problems for you. So you'd better give your GPU in for repair to a specialist.

Does it still occur in higher speeds? Mine does the same thing in low RPMs but it's fine in higher. You can remove it, clean it and try to apply some sort of lubrication (Silicone oil) to the bearings to see if that helps at all. If not, just buy a new one from eBay, it won't cost more than $10 ea.

At high speed some times it hits the frame and sometimes for days it will run with out a scratch

It is going to die soon. Had similar experience. I didn't buy a new one, but I put a fan for compute case instead, and the temperatures were even better Tongue

Well, just buy a new one to prevent further damage or even failure when your PC is mining, had it happen once, GPU went up to 100C and kept running for a solid half an hour.
You don't even have to buy the genuine ones, get some aftermarket from eBay, they are the same thing.

I tried placing a case fan on 280x and the temp did not improve at all.

As far as I have heard, Sapphire is only company who sell replacement fans. I have Palit cards and one of my fans have dodgy bearing, I think its on its way out. Contacted Palit, they responded " We do not sell fans or any parts".

Not sure what I`ll do when that bearing goes completely.

If you take the fan off and look at the back of it there should be a part number that you can use to (hopefully) find a replacement fan on ebay, amazon, alibaba, etc...  I know that you can buy Gigabyte replacement fans online for their current series of coolers if you know the part number to look up.
