At this point I think we are being played by asic manufacturers.  Build an asic prior to releasing a gpu “resistant” coin. You know the rest.  Anyway most coins will see an asic because the manufacturers know that only they make the money in mining    Goes back to the gold rush and shovels analogy.

Gpu mining is gonna die.  Do you remember the story coming out a while back that said Nvidia and AMD both are preparing for decrease in sales.  This now makes sense since they would be in the know on when these ASICS are being made.   Looks like those that heavy invested Gpu gonna cry

I hope that upcoming Monero hardfork will kill this at least for Monero. But the rest Cryptonight coins will be pretty much suffer for GPU mining.
Same with Nicehash, if the hardfork will disable Monero for Nicehash all the mining power will go to ETN, SUMO, ITNS probably and without firmware update the same with this ASIC.

I'm very curious about the power consumption 20kH/s at 60W? When I forget to turn off the lights in bathroom I have higher power consumption there Cheesy

Baikal only sells in MOQ 5 and MOQ 10. Someone should set up a buying pool as I'm sure these will be pricey. I have contacted Baikal about price, but haven't heard back. I'll update when I do.

You aren’t kidding there.  Gonna see some big changes this year.  Maybe to more of a do you believe in the crypto movement enough to spend money towards the cause.  I’m in that boat. Hell im still running s3 lol.  Anyway interested to see how this plays out. Sorry to hijack your thread. Most people don’t like what I have to say. Truth as I see it is hard for some to take.

I would take it serious coming from them.  They are here to conpete with the likes of bitmain they best keep producing asic for all algos.  Just because something isn’t cost efficient when you run your numbers doesn’t mean it doesn’t work out for someone else.

Come on, it is little hard to believe that ASIC type machine consumes only 60w.

I am not a supporter of coin mining with asics. This dramatically increases the complexity and leads to the fact that the coin has no profitability. I think it's a waste of money. In addition, the customs authorities of many countries in Europe now require to provide cargo certificates. There are no such certificates. You always risk not to receive your goods and lose their money. Why do you need to take risks? Selling asics is a kind of Scam. You will never get the income you expect.

Price a bit to high and some people had problems with the missing CE-CERT. Customs could destroy it if they catch it up.
With minimum order of 6 that could really be.

But with the power consumption it hit the Europe market with high electricity costs.

Anyone know if they have now CE - Certificates?

RIP GPU mining.
Next hashing algos will be quihash ans ethash? It's seems that asic manufacturers want to fck up market really hard as it was with X11 miners

I don't think that there'd be much point doing this with ethhash. Ethereum would simply hard fork and the daggerhashimoto coins with no active community would simple be destroyed and desisted from exchanges eventually.

Perhaps it'd only make sense keeping a few ASIC units for private use but then it'd be harder to cover the cost of development without blowing up the network difficulty. Perhaps this might have also happened with Monero though. Just look at the massive jump in difficulty starting this year:

https://bitinfocharts.com/comparison/monero-difficulty.html

If those miner specs are real it could have just been a few ASICs.
