There is a bug in the last version of bte-qt.exe 0.16.3.0. During loading blockchain (I deleted all files except wallet.dat) it falls after a little bit more than 863000 blocks with the message:
Assertion failed.
Program: C:\BitcoinEssence\bte-qt.exe
File: script\interpreter.cpp, Line 1562
Expression: (flags & SCRIPT_VERIFY_P2SH)!=0
After the crash and restarting the program it starts "Processing blocks on disk" and crashes again at the same point.

P.S. My OS is Win-7 64
P.P.S. bted.exe crashes also at the same point.

Good morning Ethereal2. I had the same problem as you, and I was also using windows 7 64bit. Now in the morning I installed the new wallet on windows 7 32bits and it worked perfectly.

Is there a known issue with syncing the wallet?

I installed the BTE-0.16.3-win64 and it has 0 connections, and it's staying stuck at "37 weeks behind). When I open the QT wallet, it never has any status prompts (such as "rewinding blocks", etc.) that I see with other coin QT wallets. When I installed the wallet, there was no peers.dat file included, so it created one automatically. The peers file I have is only 5kb, so I believe it may be empty.


I started mining BTE AFTER the version 0.15 wallet (so about 1 week of mining?), so I have never had a wallet that worked.


As an aside, is there any plan to get BTE onto any exchanges again? I see it still listing CREX24, but from what I can tell, it was removed from there after the 51% attack.


And to the devs of this coin, even if this is a side project for you, you guys really need to start posting more updates on twitter or here to simply show you're still active and that this isn't a dead coin. What new stuff is coming, what pools you're working with, etc. (and if you need help proof reading or with minor edits, etc. I’m willing to volunteer for an hour or two a week). Your mining audience seems to be limited to just a few of us - and it's important to keep everyone looped in and active.

My wallet is also synced fine and works. You just need to leave only the wallet file and an empty configuration file, and then run the wallet. And the complexity of the network is still low. Still developers need to exchange restore. On Crex24 the exchange is temporarily suspended. For listing after all paid. IF you have old client (prior than 0.16.3), please follow this instruction.

You can now download the updated version of the wallet from the Github page and install it. Everybody needs to upgrade the wallet! This is a hard fork. You may need to download the blockchain again. You can delete everything except the file wallet.dat from the folder c:\users\Your username\Appdata\Roaming\Bitcoinessence and then start the new version of the wallet. This will start the download of the blockchain again. It will reject all invalid block after the attack started. I have upgraded the coin daemon on the BTE servers now. I started the reindex process for the block explorer. The mining pool operators also need to upgrade the coin daemon! The mining pool operators  need to start the coin daemon with the parameter -maxtipage=1000000000 until the first blocks have been mined. Without this parameter the coin daemon will think the block download has not been finished. Because the latest block is now 4 days old.

How about run program again?

And if you have remaining block or chainstate data folders, remove them all and start download from 0.

And always before delete, backup [wallet.dat] file to safe.

It maybe many current miners still using 0.15.1 which is old version, should not used anymore.

So please use 0.16.3 version when mining.
