My MEW got hacked and my tokens were stolen. I am very careful when putting my address on each bounty campaign and never sign up online which require any private key. I don't really know how I get phish or how hacker accessed my MEW. I learned my lesson and will never use private key again. Do you have any idea how I get phish? I got one in mind that a fake mew site does exist?

Omg, I dont understand why theres still a lot of people fall for this fake websites. Bookmark everything you think is legit, just dont rely on your typing mastery, you'll mess up one detail and you will be directed to a phishing website that looks exactly as the legit one. And one more thing, if someone emails you about the security of your account being compromised and attached a link, that probably another way of scamming, dont click any link given.

i suggest you for the next time to create a secret address that u use for store your coin and a public address to use for bounty campaign, they don't cost anything so why not. as they said before i suggest you to save the address of the real mew and access to your wallet always with that link, never search the link on google

Never give to anyone your private key when entering in a bounty campaigns because if they see that you give your private key they will open it and  they will get all your tokens. Many users are being taken away all their coins in their myetherwallet becuase they give their private key instead of their etherium address. Phishing attack is the way of a hacker to steal coins from other people they give link like the original one , and when the user click that link its automatically been hacked.

Sharing my experience, i got hacked even if i checked the website URL everytime. Why? Even if you don't go to the wrong website to get phished, you could still be hacked by malware/viruses. Some malware do a copy paste hack which pastes their own address whenever your paste it in a recipient's address. Make sure you have antivirus active and working!

Also, probably wrong sub forum.
This is why it is extremely important to not only pay attention to the website that you visit, you need to worry about the stuff that you download many people download pirated games and they play them in the computers in which they have stored all their coins, you don't have to be a genius to know this is a terrible idea that will cause you great losses.

Original site is different from compromise site. Although sometimes not noticeable the phish site for it looks like the same. I can only say please double check the link or the url of the link before logging in. One different word will change everything. Don't be careless but be more sensitive and mature on handling your own wallet.

This makes me worry a lot. Maybe I should start using metamask instead of mew? It does sound like a safe alternative to me.

Invest in bitcoin to be careful. There are so many new ways to steal your wallet. The bad guys invade viruses and steal passwords. There are a number of translation campaigns that are not paid. Some people take advantage of the little knowledge you have to invest your bitcoin.

Some of the basic things is that never open the mail form unknown one. Do not download anything which you have not requested for or find anything fishy. Always keep your antivirus updated to avoid such things. Do not share password or do not keep btc under one wallet.

I have just lost my wallet MEW. Obviously I have to code that code in the excel catalog but when I check the wallet it is reported that Private Key wrong. That really surprised me and I could not access it anymore. I do not know what else to do, I'm not rich. So someone please show me how to preserve my money. Thanks very much.

You really need to double-check the site where the person logs in. Also, something similar happened to me, but on the waves platform. I do not know how it could happen. Authentication passphrase to import the account, I have never and nowhere published.
And in February, somebody stole almost all my coins. I do not know how he got access to my account waves. I write only because it is happening not only at ETH platform but also in other places.

I am really sorry to hear that right now there are a lot of scams and phishing sites that's why using Metamask right now is a must because it can detect if the site is a scam or phishing site it will help you to secure your MEW wallets or MEW accounts. Next time please be more careful.

Even myetherwallet is recommending the use of metamask, so it seems that is a safer alternative, however using myetherwallet directly is not such a bad option the only difference is that you need to be a lot more careful, you need to check that you are in the correct website so it is better for you to use a bookmark, and even then you should check the address of the website in case someone played with your computer.

Yes. Because that option is much more safer rather than those private key input selection there and we must follow their advise since it could lead us to better life upom using. And also we should take care our keys for our own security since we might still hit by malwares if we are so careless upon downloading or clicking something.

Never ever share your private key with any bounty or ICO campaign, hackers and thieves keep trying new ways to steal your money so be careful whenever you use the private key.
