See the last link in my signature.

Also, you should move the thread to "currency exchange".

Easiest would be in this forum asking for buyer, safest would be coinbase Smiley

Speaking of which, if you want to use this method, I'd be more than willing to buy, depending on how many BTC you're selling.

Use Coinbase.

Depending on how much you need to convert to USD.  Coinbase has a daily buy/sell limit of 50btc at level 2 (highest), but it's also nearly immediate (normal 2-3day clearing w/ banking system).  I recent sells were credited to my bank account in 2-3 days.

However, the downside is that they charge a 1% processing fee, and you can't hold any USD balances, so all sells/buys are direct withdraw/deposit to your linked bank account.

So, localbitcoins and coinbase are the only viable options for U.S. residents at the moment?

What about btc-e? Seems like a good site.

If you have enough in expenses that can be covered by using gift cards, you can convert your BTC into cards from either Gyft or eGifter and keep the cash. Safe AND easy.

Bitcoin is the ultimate freedom test. It tells you who is giving lip service and who genuinely believes in it.

It's a smaller pool with a fair & low-fee payment method, lots of statistical feedback, and it's easier than EasyMiner! (Yes, we want your hashing power, but seriously, it IS the easiest pool to use! Use Coinbase.

Coinbase would be the best choice, just don't get scammed from some site like MtGox..

What about BISTAMP.NET?

I'm not sure, I'm from Europe, but in any case it's a great site.

Coinbase or localbitcoins.  If you go with the latter, meet in a public place like a library or Starbucks.

Coinbase or localbitcoins.  If you go with the latter, meet in a public place like a library or Starbucks courthouse or police station or other controlled building where civilian weapons are detected and removed.
