4. Check their partnership details. Try to contact their partners to confirm it.

As once you select that you want to participate in ICO, then what you have to keep in mind.
1. No one from team member will contact you personally through telegram or other channels to contribute to you. Only ways of contribution are either through their website or that is mentioned on their website.
2. There are many fake admin profiles on telegram , they will personally message you and will give you contribution address to send ETH/BTC or whatever. Don't listen to them and ban them immediately.
3. Only trust official websites, Admin and team member.
4. you will get email from hackers , don't open them.
5. use 2fa and other securities to your accounts on exchanges.

Recently i get email from fake cryptopia exchange team that someone is trying to access my account. I click on that link and found that it was almost similar to real cryptopia link. So avoid these types of email.

I never expect that scammers used that kind of dirty stuff, thanks for that tips. Maybe I encounter that in the future, at least I read that in this thread. Anyway, even in telegram campaign, there's scenario that someone use my name to update my eth address. They try to update my eth address to get all my stakes. One day, I visit the spreadsheet and I see that my name is duplicate, so better to always check your btc or eth address in spreadsheet to avoid this kind of disaster.

This is very beneficial for most people to be more careful in investing, now many ICOs are deceiving and can harm many people, will worsen the reputation of crypto.

Bitcoin works in the hash system which is very complicated and it auto finds the viruses and the intruders in it, but then there are many other things which we all have to do because of the systems which are prune to hacking. Most of the people are still using windows and in those operating system the intruder can come in silently and sit there to monitor the routines. This must be countered by the users themselves with appropriate firewall setting and updated security systems.

There is a concept in business which states, "the higher the risk, the higher the return." Indeed, ICOs are extremely risky to invest in, but choose the right one and you can turn a few hundred dollars to millions! You don't need to look far, just look at bitcoins. BTC started like $0.000001 or even a lot more zeroes. That translates to millions of dollars if you bought some back when it started.

Some of them are too lazy to read the white paper, what they usually do is to ask and try to look for the current status of a specific coin here in the community. Although its an effective strategy, but its still different when youre educated about the background of the ICO that you participated in.
On the other hand, I also recieved an email from that fake crytopia team, but I dont usually click on the links attached in the mail. Instead I open the website directly from my bookmark.

Yes actually you are rite. In the beginning i do the same. i invest without any research. There was project named as bitbase  , it is still on coinmarketcap. They collect money from ICO and then run. Even i was not able to get those coins from their system to exchange. After that i never invest on any ICO without any research.

- Their purpose: what can it solve? And compare with other competitor in the market. You can read ANN thread to check this
- Whitepaper: read through their technology, advantages and roadmap, what did they done in the past, and intended for the future

I relay on this forum a lot, even there are many spammers there are some people who's words worth a lot. I like to see what they think about upcoming ico and mostly they are very accurate in their predictions.
I don't bother my brain with white paper, that is way to complicated for my brain, there are too many expert terms, and so many pages, I leave that to experts to investigate and give their opinion. bounty campaigns is still the same as ico because majority of bounty are run by an ico and that simply means they are still both risky. ive been also a participant of most bounty ico campaigns on the past and i also experienced getting scammed , not once not twice but most of the time and i feel pretty pissed off. that is why after i ranked up to much higher rank , i decided to quite joining bounties because my efforts will only got wasted for nothing even though i successfully completed their task. but overalll ico bounties do have a high potential when it comes to earning big when compared to other methods.

3. Only trust official websites, Admin and team member.
4. you will get email from hackers , don't open them.
5. use 2fa and other securities to your accounts on exchanges.

Recently i get email from fake cryptopia exchange team that someone is trying to access my account. I click on that link and found that it was almost similar to real cryptopia link. So avoid these types of email.

Well, you've learned a lot until now I'm also happy about it.
But for some new users they tend not to pay attention to it all, they just do it without caring about the background of the ICO, so not a few people who lose by not paying them, or even ICO coins that they follow even disappear from crypto.

Some of them are too lazy to read the white paper, what they usually do is to ask and try to look for the current status of a specific coin here in the community. Although its an effective strategy, but its still different when youre educated about the background of the ICO that you participated in.
On the other hand, I also recieved an email from that fake crytopia team, but I dont usually click on the links attached in the mail. Instead I open the website directly from my bookmark.

Rite. Many people don't go through whitepaper. They check youtube videos and reviews from people. To be very frank there are many people who don't have any technical knowledge so they avoid to read these things and trust their friends, referrers and other things and some people are too lazy to read it

What you said is good, but some of them are not all that necessary if you’re going to find a something legit. Take for example the one you said that we should check their partners and contact them all to know if they are really into any partnership with the so ICO. You don’t really have to start contacting all their partners to know whether the ICO is legit or not, it doesn’t make any sense. Apart from this, every other thing you mentioned is alright.

You may not have to contact the partners, but really it is a way to go and I would not say it does not make sense. Sure, some of the team may be busy, but those who are looking for a way to make things work and have nothing to hide; you may use that as a means to fish them out.

It could be dropping a quick message to the original handler of any of the advisory board on the legitimacy of the project, or just trying to have a chat, probably video with the team. All that would help a lot. Most times, it is always better to call out on the team.

The second part of what you wrote is what I agree with. The number one is very true. I do know that an ico that is real won't start sending you private message on telegram or soliciting for btc/eth or another other coins as contribution. They will send whatever message in the general telegram group. That is taken but at same time, I still would not give all my trust in.

Obviously, there are just some things you will see in an ICO that would apparently tell you straight on that this should be an area you should not even delve into. However, I really do not know what the investors who invest in such ICOs think. Well, I am totally agree with you. Before starting in this field (choosing ICO), everyone must have a thorough knowledge in the basics of ICO. Investment are not sell their holders, the ICO organizers are usually who sells their coins, even though they received huge amount of money in the ICO, in most of the ICOs, the organizers still decides to hold most of the coins for themself.

I don't agree with you and I actually think the opposite, a good project won't fall when it's start trading as it shows a dis-belief from the investors, a good project will keep it's way clear to the top( where the project actually goes live), sadly most of the ICOs find themself in the junk after few months as no development has been made.

It is totally the matter of time that the price jumped too much and was more than the price today but and all the predictions about the price were wrong. Recently i get email from fake cryptopia exchange team that someone is trying to access my account. I click on that link and found that it was almost similar to real cryptopia link. So avoid these types of email.

This is an indication of the fact that people still believe and have confidence in ICOs investment. The good thing however is that, even if it is a two side of the same coin, you can always stand the better chance not to end up in the wrong side. As once you select that you want to participate in ICO, then what you have to keep in mind.
1. No one from team member will contact you personally through telegram or other channels to contribute to you. Only ways of contribution are either through their website or that is mentioned on their website.
2. There are many fake admin profiles on telegram , they will personally message you and will give you contribution address to send ETH/BTC or whatever. Don't listen to them and ban them immediately.
3. Only trust official websites, Admin and team member.
4. you will get email from hackers , don't open them.
5. use 2fa and other securities to your accounts on exchanges.

Recently i get email from fake cryptopia exchange team that someone is trying to access my account. I click on that link and found that it was almost similar to real cryptopia link. So avoid these types of email.

Checking their partnership details is quite a very good thing to do, though sometimes you don’t really need to go that far to find out if an ICO is a scam or not, it’s not really necessary. The first thing I usually do is go on Telegram and bitcointalk.org forum to check out posts or discussions about that particular ICO, cause there must be people who might have tried it out and written their experience with it. So the forum is always an important place to check out first.

Thank you. This is very useful. I once received a private message from one who claim to be "admin" asking me to purchase Masternode at cheaper price. While I was contemplating, I received another private message from another person saying he is team member asking me to purchase same. That was a big eye opener because I quickly said they were not serious if all of the team members go about trying to sell masternode lolz. That's how I escaped the issue.

I don’t think you have any problem with opening emails, I think when you will have a problem is when you reply to those mails. But if a mail looks suspicious you should mark it as spam immediately, that way whenever you get a mail from the same sender it will immediately go to the spam section and won’t be in your inbox.
