Aplication specific, so no, they can't be used for something else...
Except heating, but this can do any electronic equipment...

Under development Modular UPGRADEABLE Miner (MUM). Looking for investors.
Changing one PCB with screwdriver and you have brand new miner in hand... Plug&Play, scalable from one module to thousands.

Power supplies, cables, rpi-s, thru-hole components might be reusable, all the surface mount stuff and asics themselves cannot be
re-used.

As the post above says, cables, power supply, etc. Everything else is pretty much junk.

Its going to be winter so if they stay a penny or two close to electricity cost they can continue to heat my basement.

My charitable donation to the BTC community.

The Redhash Avalon clone may have the backplane repopulated with Avalon2 units if the price is right.

Come spring the BFL 65nm units all paper weights.

Once they cross the electricity to btc threshold you could always give them to someone you don't like!

They could be used as heating devices, don't know if they are very efficient though

Damn, my monster in law is constantly asking me do shit for her (not because I'm especially good at it or anything but mostly because her sons are morons).  Next time she asks me to do something I should bring my Jally there set it up run it in the background on her pc and tell her its a new modem or router or hub or something (she'll buy anything), I can run it forever then!  Stealing that buck fifty a month will really pay off in the long Roll Eyes

Depending on a few factors, pointing at an altcoin might be feasible for a while.  Also, with the exchange rate going up, BFL equipment won't stop being profitable until well over 1 billion difficulty @ 0.10 USD/KwH, so we'lll see when we get there.  I plan on making a little museum display Cheesy.

Just ran the numbers - 6 billion difficulty at current pricing is power cost equivalent for a 60GH single.  My prediction is we won't see that kind of difficulty for at least a year.

Just sold my jalapeño for more money so not my problem anymore Smiley

Isn't it funny how BFL screws us ... we then transition that screw job onto other people?

Greed just feeds more greed.  What you did is on a very small scale compared to what BFL did to its customers.  Putting that in perspective leaves me with no doubt in my mind that BFL was pulling all sorts of shit.  probably in ways we haven't even considered yet.

Had deathcode waited 6-12 months after the sale of his jalapeno before delivering, you might have a point.  Otherwise it's nothing like what BFL did at all, quite the opposite in fact if he shipped the unit after the sale as is the likely case here.

Oh also he'd of had to mislabel the efficiency of the miner to the seller so that when they got the machine it actually took up more space and sucked more energy for the same promised hash rate.

Not even remotely similar to what BFL did. BFL lied about delivery dates, delayed, delayed, delayed, delayed. Then stopped allowing refunds once they realized people were about to request refunds en mass.

Do you think there is gonna be any use for all those useless asics? can it be hacked to do something else?

I've suggested an ASIC water heater for households which can then possibly be augmented with a steam sauna room.   Grin
