alpha-t.net is offline? Byebye my 50+ bitcoins  Undecided

You don't actually think you're going to make any money with these things, do you? There is about a month left before the block reward on Litecoin is cut in half. You won't even be able to sell these on the open market for 1/10th their cost.

Err? What do you think the response is going to be?  Roll Eyes

If they even bother making a response when they miss the next deadline they set themselves, it will be more of the same waffle.
"We need to alter X because our previous design was essentially non-functional as we have no idea what we are doing....", "We are still the best manufacturer...", "Just this last change to make and we will be shipping....".

Same old shit.

Only news from AT I would consider valid is when they officially file for bankruptcy.

Because that account was started and maintained by Fiaz Malik, who quit the company shortly after they announced their first screw-up (having to re-do tapeout) and the whole "profit sharing" farce. Got out while the getting was good, I guess. Anyway, I think the company is probably down to one employee now.

Why anyone would still be waiting for these I have no idea.  Contact your CC companies, PayPal or sue via MoneyClaim.

these are losers due to their delays regardless of whether or not they actually ship anything and regardless of whether or not they will be of any quality, which I doubt as well, considering the apparent lack of expertise of these people.  Odds are that, even if they ship, they're dogshit quality-wise and will crap out in next to no time.  There is no point that I can see in doing anything but trying to get your money back.

I guess it depends on how much one has into this fiasco, but if it's in the thousands it would seem to be a decent idea to make some attempt to squeeze it out of them, by whatever means available.

My problem is, I really don't think this company HAS any money left to squeeze out of them...and I doubt very much whether they have any hard assets to liquidate, either. Their hardware doesn't even work and their chip isn't even power-efficient enough to resell to other manufacturers, in light of the SFARDS chips. I know of people who are pursuing winding up petitions against the company, but I bowed out because I felt like I was throwing good money after bad. Judging by how badly the development and production of this thing has been bungled, they have probably thrown all of their money away just trying to get it working.

yeah, you may be right.  I guess I'd have to wonder how the lawsuits are turning out in terms of them actually coughing up the money.

I know they've been having their asses handed to them in court, which is no surprise, but I guess I'd want to know if judgements are being paid and how recently they were coughing up that money before tossing money at a lawsuit to determine whether or not to pursue that avenue, especially if I was only into this for a few hundred dollars.

that site fightalpha.net might have some of that, although it's been many months since I visited it....

Yeah, the big problem is that there's no such thing as a class action in the UK, apparently. That's what would really suit a situation like this best. The only thing they can do is the winding up petition, shut the company down, sell assets and distribute them to the parties involved in the petition. That would be satisfying, inasmuch as it damages Akram's business history and disables his ability to scam anyone else through Alpha Technology, but I don't think it'd bear much financial fruit, at this point. Plus, you can't include legal costs in a settlement amount...which also sucks.

Not that I caught.

If they bother making another 'news' announcement it will either be more excuses or to declare they are bust as a business.

Either way not really 'news' at this point.

Don't worry - They are on schedule to ship in June or July of 2014. Best in class and first to deliver.

I don't see how they're going to overcome insolvency to actually ship a product...and even if they did, they'll go out of business because nobody will ever buy anything from them in the future.

For those with Judgements: form N349 against Alpha's Bank (Lloyds Bank) WORKS. Find the full details and proof here: http://fightalpha.net/index.php?topic=158.msg540#msg540

I cannot stress enough: Even if you HAVE NOT YET SUED.. LPC LAW FIRM will handle EVERYTHING for you for a flat-fee. Just tell them you want the Alpha Technology deal Smiley The person who won with form n349 used them. The claimant was based in America and paid with Bitcoins. So you can win and get paid.. even if you are not in the UK. More info on LPC LAW FIRM here: http://fightalpha.net/index.php?topic=147.msg431#msg431

And final proof: http://fightalpha.net/index.php?topic=158.msg540#msg540

FIGHT ON AND WIN

Note: Alpha is FULLY SOLVENT. Another claimant had 15,000 GBP Judgement and issued a winding up petition against Alpha.

Here's their result:

Quote
Sorry it has taken a while, but finally I have achieved a result.. and an interesting one at that! My lawyers have just withdrawn the petition, since Alpha paid up the full judgement amount PLUS the petition costs!

I was actually quite surprised with that result. I figured that they would have moved the money off somewhere else and would then let the company get liquidated. However, it seems like they are trying to keep the company alive - hence they paid me to go away.

As a result, I would suggest that you press ahead with your own petition. I would also suggest keeping this news off the forum, and just communicate if (if you even see fit) to your paid-up members - probably more effective if they don't know that a petition is coming (until your lawyers tell them it will be unless they pay up immediately). Once the petition is served on them, the Court date is set for approx 4-6 weeks in the future.

Also keep in mind that the money you put in to serve the petition:
1. is the first to get paid back if they get liquidated
2. will get returned to you by them if they pay to you go away

I did wind up with some costs in getting the petition withdrawn, and the Court had not assigned me all the legal costs in the judgement, but I came out of the experience with a pretty decent proportion of what I put in.

Good luck!

/D

Our fixed fee for this would be £380 which would include the court application fee, preparation of the application and witness statement and attendance at the application hearing by an advocate.

Basically.. "winning" would be 380 GBP, and in my case that fee was recoverable. They also advocated for 8% interest per year because Alpha was being "unreasonable" which was also granted.

I'd ask for a little more clarification on that 'fixed' price, I've paid more than three times that amount to get to the point of the court date and solicitor's attendance fee with them.

The price they mention there is just to get the court application filed and then Alpha get to file whatever defense they think they can muster against it and then it can go to small claims court, whereupon there will be additional fees to pay for the hearing fee and the solicitor's fee to attend it.

It should have been 8.5%, it is fixed by law rather than just a made-up number they think is reasonable.

Ironically, this is ONLY applicable to business to business transactions, something Alpha have been very keen to tell everyone is indeed the case!
