What do you do if you think your partner just ran on you?

I wont get into full details after I get to take a wonderful tour of downtown la via the metro system tomorrow, but I have reason to believe my partner that have in some of my dealings has already stole from me, and has now took off with would be a very large amount of hardware.
I know the basics with the police and all, but two things are 1) hes a kid 2) I really dont know that much about him. Met him when I bought some 5830's on craigslist, we started talking and it was legit for awhile. Then about two weeks ago things started going wrong. First some lame excuse about some shiping thing and how it cost him more, but couldn't get me a tracking number? I didnt know what to think. So I started routing a few things to my home instead, setup a few small rigs. But then all of a sudden, this card shows up and its one that I was asking about. really late, looks as if it had been tossed in the box last min. address on the box was from out of state but whatever. So I started having him handle things mining related again for me. And now today I ask him to do some task for me and everything suddenly drops. Then I find that someone else I have a contract for has been out for 2 days. His phone dosent work all of a sudden and if it wasn't Sunday or I drove, I would be on the 405 right now.
So. Thats what I think Im dealing with. Just asking for thoughts. I pretty much know what I have to do. Plus Ill have everything confirmed tomorrow. I figure out of this I will be out about 2400 in hardware. Plus I will have to issue around 800 in refunds to some people. Im shaking just thinking about all of this. I should be around all night so Ill respond quickly for a while.

I'd call the cops and learn from my mistakes without making myself theatrically over-jaded.

I am seriously contemplating it and will be more than likely forced to. I just wish I did not have to come to that. And yes, he does need to learn from his actions. But I am one who likes to avoid the police if at all possible.
I don't think he is bad at heart. I just think he is a misguided young man who has just entered the real world and made some bad choices. I am the type that would rather help him clean this up and make it right if I could speak with him, than let him dig him self deeper and wreck his life.

If it was enough money then get a cop on it. Tell him you just want your stuff back and I'm sure he'll scare the kid and get it back. You don't have to press charges every time.

Maybe let him know that it's immoral and wrong what he's doing. I assume you already did.

throw his ass in jail.... those 5830's you bought were probably stolen too. Even if you just get your stuff back and don't press charges he'll probably screw someone else over- do them a favor
