Not a pessimist but ir would definitely gain more attention if people could buy something more useful in their daily lives rather than seeing another magnate/organization buying a historical piece of art using bitcoins. People would only get interested in a certain event intimately if they could somehow relate into the current events, in this case a purchase of a good. Sadly, only a handful of merchants--most of which are confined in the cyberspace--exists that accept bitcoins gladly as a form of payment. Nonetheless, this also shows bitcoin's prowess to buy something extremely valuable in history which is a good thing.

This is the first time I hear bitcoin is being used for purchasing art. This is the answer for all those who ask what could be bitcoin used for in real life and that bitcoin is mostly being used only by criminals or for gambling purposes.
More such news would  be the example of positive bitcoin promotion and definetely will encourage some to accept bitcoin as a payment method. Hope for more such news in the future.

This will somewhat bring a lot of attention to bitcoin and the whole crypto market as well. We would have thought that some kind of historical value will be purchased by Bitcoin? No one. So I think its a needed boost to the already fragile market.

I hope though that it will set a precedence as well, and then we will see in the future the most auctions houses across Europe and North America accepting bitcoins as mode of payment. We will see how it goes in the next 5-10 years.

Bitcoins are being used to purchase history.

I feel like this happens very often ("this" being bitcoin used as a payment option). I hope that we can come to the day where the headlines aren't that bitcoin was used, but more so that someone just bought something. At that point, bitcoin will be truly successful and treated like any other currency. Who knows, maybe this is a way for Arbitrade to get rid of Bitcoin because they don't see a future in it. Although it may not seem likely, I think it's worth giving some potential thought to those outlying ideas.

This area is up for grabs! PM me if you're interested.

It is good when people use criptocurrency for similar buyings. It proves that criptocurrency could be actually used as payment tool Smiley

Great news. Good purpose. This will be another ray of light on BTC on its path to be one of the major mainstream currencies. It has just widened the scope. Good for crypto users. Thanks for sharing.
