Thank you
1. go to the folder where bitcoin is installed
2. shift + right-click -> open command window here
3. type "bitcoin-qt -reindex" into the command window (without quotes) and hit enter
4. wait for bitcoin to rescan. this may take 30 minutes.

edit: correction by Raoul Duke

It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.

The command is -reindex, not -rescan.
-reindex is a full replay of the blockchain. It will take longer than 30min.

Well,

It was "reindexing" successfully, but now, it's downloading or "syncing" with the network.

Is this because it's downloading the remaining chain blocks as I've also deleted blk00000 and blk00001 files OR there is something wrong happening ?

The file size of C:\Users\Hesham_3del\AppData\Roaming\Bitcoin is 7.84 GB, so any comments about the file size ?

The bitcoin-qt is syncing now at 124 weeks behind

Thanks.

So if I'm not mistaken, sometimes it will "sync" and sometimes it will "reindex", am I right ?

reindex only occurs if the stored data is corrupt.

- I don't think that with 120 weeks behind and I was at 24 weeks behind that it will still download that from the beginning and I'm at 7.88 GB, did you got my point ?

- Another question, if you don't mind Smiley , if I'm going to format my PC, what is the CORRECT way to have a backup of the chain blocks ? As it's impossible everytime I'm going to download 12+ GB.

Thank you

copy these folders:
%appdata%\Bitcoin\blocks
%appdata%\Bitcoin\chainstate
%appdata%\Bitcoin\database

after you restore the folders, run "bitcoin-qt.exe -rescan"

you can download this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=145386.0 which is much faster than syncing.
