hi guys! joined the mining. good luck to all of us!
Thank you. May Saint Barbara the patron saint of all miners guide our ways! https://i.imgur.com/qK8O5VH.jpgWell crap... that pic brought back a flood of memories. I worked in a mine for 20 years... luckily, an open pit mine... not a hell hole these poor sods toiled in. God or no God, they had reason to pray. Wait a sec... I left the mine to pursue a career in computers... and I find myself now compute mining. What the...

well.. you can't run away from yourself... everywhere you go.. there you are. Fascinating ...! :-) I am mining ZETTEL too, only with an i5 Dell Laptop, since a few days; found already some, thanks therefore to you all and your good comments and infos here in the thread! ;-) And - why the above citate touches me too - my ancestors mined silver and minted coins a few hundred years ago. That was, due to my curiosity, the reason for getting involved in this: In the last 19 Years I had been always running an account and trading silver and gold mine stocks. Since 2014 i have arrived at the crypto-area too (heared about it earlier, but was not able to react, as it is often, when something really new emerges). And now, what can i tell you about the bear market in cryptos? Forget it. You're already in too deep. ;-D But its a very good time to accumulate worthy coins! In my view ZETTEL is one of them, as there is a perspective which seems to be idealistic enough to survive the valleys yet to come. Here's a pretty good article about what Luhmann could mean for what is called "Multi-storage principle". Unfortunately only in German language: https://www.netzpiloten.de/luhmann-algorithmus-kurvendiagramme/To be honest, i although prefer Heinz von Foerster and his ideas on System Theory, also late Wittgenstein has adaptions that would fit here. I whish you and your quest much luck and ideas yet to arise, it shall be a good one, this coin ... greez n.

alright, Burgerhash V3 is ready and can be tested on burgerhash-testnet in a few hundred blocks: we are going to witness the fork and how the new algo behaves benchmark-wise. Make sure you download the newest burgerhash-release from here: https://github.com/zettel-kasten/burgerhash/releases/tag/v0.9.18.1If everything goes well, and we don't discover any bugs, then we can apply those changes to Zettelkasten and I will release new Zettel-wallets tomorrow. Enjoy!

Burgerhash V3 specification flow chart coming later! Working on it.
I need to change the layout of those flow charts, there is just not enough space anymore to fit everything in, lol

ok, fork on testnet was successful! This is what the mining-info-screen will look like with burgerhash V3: if you like you can now benchmark your CPU's to see what hashrate they make with SDKPGABSPC https://github.com/zettel-kasten/burgerhash/releasesCome join us on discord or slack

ok, we are now observing testnet for 24 hours.
I expect that everything is fine, and am confident that we can release the new updated ZETTEL wallets within 24 hours.
Thanks for everyone who participated in the testnet (especially the miners and full node operators)

excellent, all the blockexplorers have already updated to the newest version (70021)
Still, only 10% of all nodes have updated as of now.
So: Update NOW guys!

Just updated to the new version, transition was smooth. I also urge everybody to upgrade ASAP! Don't get on the wrong side of the chain me too it was a bit ugly, as i didn't know, if i had to download the whole chain again - and after 2 hours of trying i simply did it. Block for me at the moment is: 193850. Now it works, only one thing did me strike strange - because as algo is still given the old SpreadDoubleKetchupPrimegradeABeef and not the new one, which is SpreadDoubleKetchupPrimeGradeABeefStickyPuffyCheese (which is an aussum name indeed, haha) in the description in the wallets mining area. But the Version is rightly given with v0.9.17.1 in the about-section, so i do hope best. Thumbs up! n.

interestingly interesting here.
Is the algorithm only cpu, is it 100% gpu resistant? What's the best pool for mining tests. I have a lot of free cpu power;)

This is how it's supposed to be. It will switch automatically to SpreadDoubleKetchupPrimeGradeABeefStickyPuffyCheese after block >=200k. Right now we are still in SDKPGAB phase (for the remaining ca 6000 blocks) If you have v0.9.17.1 (protocol 70021) then you are good, and your wallet (and miner) knows how do handle SDKPGABSPC and will simply switch automatically from SDKPGAB to SDKPGABSPC starting with block 200k: https://github.com/zettel-kasten/zettelkasten/blob/master/src/main.cpp#L1490Nothing else needed for you to do!

... is it 100% gpu resistant?
Nothing is 100% GPU (or even ASIC) resistant. It's just a matter of effort and money whether someone will succeed in creating a GPU miner. Our approach with ZETTEL and its constantly evolving "Burgerhash" algorithm is that every 100k blocks (ca 10 weeks) we are increasing the complexity of the POW algorithm, so that any hypothetical GPU-miners (should they come into existence) become obsolete.

We have no pools (yet). (Also, we have the Spread-Pool-Prevention-Feature, so it will make the creation of pools more complicated.) Everyone is solo-mining with their CPU(s) using the built-in miner. We are still in the phase where everyone even with an average CPU should "probably" find a block a day. If you just want to do a few mining tests, I'd recommend you try our testnet (which is its own coin called BURGER / Burgerhash): https://github.com/zettel-kasten/burgerhash/releasesBoth ZETTEL and BURGER have identical protocols and POW algo. But since BURGER is ZETTEL's testnet, it is already mining SDKPGABSPC, while ZETTEL has a strict fork schedule: switching to SDKPGABSPC at block 200k (in ca 4 days)

This is what supporters need to understand, that there is no 100% GPU/ASIC resistant. If it is profitable enough, engineers can build ASICs in secret and mine in secret. It's up to the developers to continuously innovate to make their coin GPU or ASIC resistant.
