About

Purk is an open source, ASIC resistant, private and untraceable cryptocurrency that monetises your content and provides almost instant, worldwide privacy protected payments with minimal transaction fees. Based on Boolberry & CryptoNote technology, Purk helps balance CPU, GPUmining speeds, which encourages fair and equal distribution whilst providing extremely fast block verification times.

Purk was created to help content owners and service providers monetise their website or application by accepting quick and easy micropayments from their users or customers. Website users can send Purk to a content owner or service provider to show appreciation for their hard work. By sending micropayments as a tip, it highly reduces the amount of monetisation that is needed on a website. Note: The Wild Keccak algorithm was designed for resistance against ASICs (and to "some" extent GPUs). AMD miners will have a better experience mining Purk using the OpenCL miner. Whilst Nvidia mining is still highly profitable, an optimised CUDA miner is still yet to be released making hashrate reductions and light instability very probable.

  • An open source button that gives publishers the ability to monetise their content, website or application and allows users to send Purk as a gratuity or tip in a couple of clicks.
  
  
• Exchange Listings
  
  
  • Applications will begin for Purk to start trading on the exchanges. Exchange listings will be taken in to careful consideration before applying, based on trust, platform software, security and cost. This is a long, drawn-out process and will be an ongoing task until we reach our target.
  
  
• Launch Public API
  
  
  • Currently we track the donation wallet address, button creation date, website URL and the amount of donations that have been received for each Purk Button that is generated. Once this phase is complete we will be able to receive donation totals in PURK (opt-in), impressions (opt-in), tx hash, donor wallet address variance and user button interaction. We will be publishing the PURK Button API and allowing websites and blockchain based applications to integrate using an API key. Documentation website to be developed and published also.
  
  
• Automatic Wallet Consolidation
  
  
  • Since launch we have already implemented a manual consolidation command in Simplewallet to deal with small input payments and eliminate dust from a wallet. We propose to develop new functionality that allows wallet users to auto-consolidate incoming transfers in command line and GUI wallet.
  
  
• Wallet RPC API
  
  
  • Whilst the current Simplewallet RPC API can be used for integration, we would like to provide exchanges a secondary option to integrate Purk with their application. The Wallet RPC API will have 20 new RPC methods which use the latest CryptoNote protocol. Current Simplewallet RPC API will stay in-tact.
  
  
• Alias Registration
  
  
  • We intend to improve the current alias registration system by allowing users to associate an alias ID directly from the GUI wallet or command line wallet when you make a transfer – as opposed to when you solo mine a block.
  
  
• LMDB Development
  
  
  • Currently system requirements need a minimum of 8GB RAM to use the Purk client. We will be integrating LMDB (lightning memory mapped database) which will improve blockchain synchronisation speed and allow lower spec PC’s and applications with limited resources to integrate Purk with ease.

  • As a fully decentralised cryptocurrency, development updates should not be decided by a single, central authority. The Purk Project utilises a contractor model that allows for new individuals, groups and companies to contribute to the Purk Project. Currently, Purk consists of a small number of contributing members who work on the project:

• 3+ developers who contribute to new code, maintain the current code and implement roadmap features in Purk's open-source software and repositories.
• 3+ marketing contractors who actively market/advertise Purk through a number of mediums including; paid advertising, media, outreach and networking.
• 2+ graphic web/designers who work alongside the developers and marketing contractors and deliver all visual components for web applications, websites, software and advertising.
