Many ICO projects are good for 2018. But also there should be your own opinion and research. As for me - i think Auctus & Abyss project would be awesome ...

Hey there!
After my researches I've defined for myself only 3 really perspective projects that will definitely worth to participate:

1. MERCULET
2. OpenPlatform
3. Neonexchange

I highly recommend you to have a look at them.

What does it  mean "good" for you?

According to analysis tokens of exchanges give good gains. For example there is lccx.io - looks like promising exchange based in London.  Well developed white paper, experienced team, located in politically stable jurisdiction.

Choose projects with high ratings in icobench or icoraiting. But check everything on project's website. Their team, their whitepaper, everything. I recently found one of the best upcoming ICO called lccx.io - looks like promising exchange based in London.  Well developed white paper, experienced team, located in politically stable jurisdiction.

regards ...
from experience to follow an ICO, understand all the provisions in it.
from the goal of an ICO, a roadmap, a solid team moving inside it. This is crucial to whether or not good ... primarily a team that is aggressively running ICO procedures and will succeed in finding an investor ...
good luck....

If you are a noob, it is important you engage yourself consistently with alt coin discussion fora on telegram and social media platforms. That way you would be able to follow key analysis and public opinions first, then you could pick up a select few ICO and research further privately.
Also, some websites like icodrop publish ICOs under different categories. They invest in some of these ICOs and you would at least have an idea of what is a fair project before focusing on 'em.
Regarding Merculet that you mentioned, imo, is a phenomenon project with passionate and adventurous team. I am also a fan of Merculet atm. So I think it is not a bad start for you.

ICO is risky if it is used for investments. It is just as painful if you participate in a SCAM in a bounty campaign because it's time lost in vain. I do not know anything about the Merculet project, but if you've documented, researched, and considered it a future project, then it's good. I can also recommend a good ICO project in full swing, KEPLER. It's the project of the future.

I would list out few best ICOs currently in line.

Docademic,
DeHedge,
Eligma,
Fishcoin
Eccentia
IAMHERO
INVACIO
BuzzShow

Trust worthy ICOs to invest in. The projects are awesome. Coming up fine. I would suggest to invest in these ICOs than investing in a costly coins as these would certainly bring more profits when they are listed in exchanges.

As far as I think the best ico this April is :
https://www.theabyss.com/
In fact, it was a daico, the first daico to be offered, the inventor of daico as the founder of eth Vitalik Buterin
Next is https://merculet.io and
http://egretia.io
That is the cooperation project Krypital.
I trust the project Krypital promote because the projects they offer me are involved and the projects are as successful as Arcblock and Cybermiles.

I am confused in this ICO is very deep referral program up to 5 levels. Such programs are often used in pyramid Ponzi . I've often participated in such projects and I can say that without attendees it is very hard to earn. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think that ICO is easy to do without a referral program.

Please read more about daico, even if there is an exchange that prices are not as expected, we can vote for developers to return eth for us.
