The Kleros gamedrop is a way to both test the Schelling Point, educate users and have some fun.

Users are also able to win PNK by voting coherently!


Basically, the Schelling Point allows a consensus to be reached between people who do not know each other and have no means of communication with each other. This concept was described by Thomas Schelling in “The Strategy Of Conflict”. He received the Nobel Prize for Economics for this work. A famous American television program “Family Feud” is based on this idea. It’s about finding the most popular answers for a given question.

Verdict
Kleros is a very much needed protocol that connects users who need to solve disputes with jurors who have the skills to fairly settle them. There are many more technical details in this project that haven’t been touched on. Its clear from their explanations that they know what they are talking about, have clear goals, and a manageable roadmap. The team’s inexperience does not seem like a problem, because this project isn’t trying to do too much.
    “As the ecosystem matures, Kleros will prove that it can deliver fast, affordable and transparent justice in a growing number of use cases. More customers bring more entrepreneurs, more jurors, more developers and an increasing number of use cases. The community will build the ecosystem on top of an open protocol. And this is how decentralized justice takes over the world” (Federico Ast CEO)

Risks
    It’s so early in the development of DApps that it makes it hard to visualize enough use cases to make this ecosystem run. -1
    Lots of inflation – only 16% of the tokens will go to funders. The other tokens will be sold either in the future as the team achieves critical milestones or as an additional incentive for early jurors in the platform.-1
    There is no hard cap, as IICO is a market-based method. This means that the revenue from the token sale will be determined by market forces. -1

Growth Potential
    The CEO spoke at Consensus, which is a big deal. +2

    Early partnerships with top companies, including InkProtocol and Dether and Thomson Reuters Incubator.+2
    Kleros could easily be integrated with existing platforms (decentralized or not) with users being taken to a dispute resolution screen where they may never know who was arbitrating their dispute. +2
    One of the Telegram devs stated: “Actually, even Vitalik knows of Kleros quite well. He and our Cryptoeconomics researcher William had a very interesting discussion on  http://ethresear.ch/about Kleros and some of the functions of the protocol.” The link is private, so we cant confirm if this is true, but it seems true. +1

Disposition
Although this isn’t the sexiest of projects, it is one of the most important. It provides a court system for DApp users when smart contracts are incapable of settling disputes, which will be often. No better solution has been presented.  6/10 is our rating.

There are now crazy amounts of ICO's out there but not a great deal of them are doing anything that useful. Lots of hype and no action. The Kleros mentality is the other way round. Time will tell as to the importance and nature of our project.

Sortition, the use of random selection to allocate political decision making rights, plays a limited role in contemporary political systems. The most well known sortition mechanism in modern democracies is the selection of jurors in American trials.

Few people know that randomness was a key political technology throughout the history of democracy. In different times, thinkers and social reformers saw sortition as a way to avoid concentration of power and corruption by special interests. Australian political scientist John Burnheim called demarchy political systems based on randomness.

Kleros uses sortition for jury selection. While we frequently talk about it as an innovation in the legal field, it can also be interpreted as part of a wider movement of governance innovation: the revival of demarchy.

A classic obstacle in applying smart contracts to many common problems is that most useful contracts in the real world require access to values that cannot be verified by computation. A smart contract that sells rain insurance to farmers needs to be able to determine whether it rained. Many financial contracts that one would like to implement on Ethereum require the price of 1 ETH in USD, but this is not a value that natively lives on the chain.

An “oracle” is a mechanism that can be consulted to provide this outside, real-world information.

The IICO protocol, as described in the whitepaper, presents the following user stories:

As a user, I can place a bid in any of the sale’s phases and optionally set a personal cap on the total amount raised, in order to participate in the sale at valuations I am comfortable with.
As a user, I can withdraw before the withdrawal lock time with a penalty that is relative to the amount of time that passed since I placed my bid, so I can still get some of my contribution back if I change my mind.
As a user, I can redeem tokens and/or my refunded ETH at the end of the sale, to reap the fruits of my contribution.
We also decided to add an extra phase at the start of the sale where the bonus does not decrease so that everyone can take advantage of the full bonus and to avoid harmful network congestions.

Why Kleros Needs a Native Token?

The Pinakion (PNK), a crypto-token for creating the right incentives and preventing Sybil attacks.

At Kleros we are building a blockchain-based, crowdsourced dispute resolution platform. An essential part of the mechanism design is the native pinakion token (PNK).

For each dispute that is arbitrated by Kleros, some number of jurors are required. A jury as small as three people may provide an initial ruling of a dispute. Then if one of the parties decides to appeal the ruling, the number of jurors in subsequent rounds increases.

PNK holders can stake their token in a Kleros court to indicate their availability to serve as jurors.
