If btc survives this crash, then alts will too -- at least the good ones. BTC doesn't have the technology that most alts have.

That means that alts still have a use. They're the untested experiments for BTC.

Even if BTC incorporates all alt technologies, there will always be a new alt with advanced tech. So they'll always have a place in crypto.

That said, some alts will always be faster than BTC when it comes to TX, with less fees. These, I believe, will be what people use for daily transactions when crypto becomes a mainstream payment processor.

I think we generally underestimate the energy required to completely kill an altcoin. If am afraid altcoin itself is nothing but just a name given to a collection of all digital coins other than bitcoin. For example, ethereum, BCH, LTC, neo, waves are all altcoins and the list goes on and on. Among them, only a few ones are profit promising.

I believe that stable and potential altcoin will survive irrespective of the fall and some new coin or coin that are still undergoing development may likely not survive the bear period because the rate at which the market deep is much.
