Who has not yet seen this film? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oOOr4nuWFqU#t=12

Thanks for the rec. I love film noir, and this Japanese version looks pretty bleak and atmospheric. The sense of impending doom. The mean streets. Life on the edge: (from "Out of the Past", Jacques Tourneur)
I'll put this one on the list.

One of Masterpieces  for me is a movie GLADIATOR, actor Rusell Crow

Excellent choice. I loves me that soundtrack. Vocalist from Dead Can Dance, gave me chills.

Then watch some Wong Kar-Wai films. They're in color!

There was a day when I had your attitude. I didn't want to watch black and white films. I didn't want to watch subtitled films. And so I was left with Hollywood studio driven material like Gladiator. Enjoyable, but not quite higher cinema.

Aw, man! I don't know what it is, but for some reason, B&W movies seem MORE real than movies in color. Maybe they're more dreamlike. I wish I knew why, but they go straight into my subconscious. Too bad no-one makes them anymore, I guess they'd be hard to market.

I haven't yet seen any Bela Tarr movies, but I want to. Check them out.

I hear it's pretty amazing, and I actually saw a copy at my local library, but... It's gonna take some doing to get a large enough block of time to watch it/them. I prefer to watch a movie in one gulp. It's more immersive(?) I guess. I'll add them to the list. The very long list.
