I've not watched anything else in the same genre/time period that's stood out.

But I'd love some recommendations!

I'd certainly love to help you out, but you could help me out my defining what you consider to be the genre, and what other films from said genre that you watched that just missed being put on your list.

Star wars saga

I'd be more interested in hearing about the first film in your favorite films list that everyone on the planet hasn't heard of. You know, kind of like people want to hear something that has some novelty. Tell me now, what are you going to do about that little nugget of information you've shared with us?

The 4th one was terrible. They should leave older movies alone instead of whoring them for money. Just like Rambo 4 :s

I concur. The 4th part of both movies was only made for money..

Any recommendations from Q3-Q4 of 2013?

Man i only like english based movies. Dunno why but that is only language that i can watch movies. Dont like german turkey or other based language movies. I am used to english.

Get Battle royale best subtitled movie and I love it. It got me into Asian Horror.

+ on Battle Royale. Relentless action, stylish, brutal. Likely inspiration for the Hunger Games, bears the same relationship that Bitcoin does to Litecoin.

Too bad you won't brave the subtitles, my favorite film of all time is Kurosawa's Ikiru. Ozu's Tokyo Story is (for me) a very close second. FirstAscent does not feel that it is his best movie, so lots to explore there!

Anything by Miyazaki (senior), and pretty much anything from Studio Ghibli. There are dubs, but I think they are inferior to the original Japanese soundtracks. I'm not even sure how the heck you could dub Whisper of the Heart?

But there are lots of English language movies that are excellent. Check out some noir from the 40's: Out of the Past is probably my favorite.

Horror: Nosferatu. Rumor is that the actor who plays Drac was an actual vampire. Certainly seems plausible. Even the remake scared the crap out of me, and I hate remakes. Usually.

SF: Bladerunner, Philip K. Dick done right, atmospheric, with a great soundtrack.

Comedy: Good Neighbor Sam, so ridiculous a concept, but I laughed my ass off

Fellini's Amarcord. Truffaut's Small Change. Moving stuff, funny yet heartbreaking. Oops, subtitles...

My six favorite Ozu films are, in no particular order:

Late Spring
Early Summer
Tokyo Twilight
Equinox Flower
Late Autumn
Floating Weeds

Have you seen them all?

Kurosawa's Ikiru didn't really do it for me. I get it, but it's not my favorite. Red Beard, on the other hand...

I've recently watched eleven Mikio Naruse films. Have you seen any films by Naruse?

Fast & Furious 6....

That's your favorite because you haven't seen the films which would replace it as your favorite. Conclusion: you haven't seen enough films.
