This is the funniest thread that I have seen so far. It's an entrepreneur trying to sell a wallpaper image he created and wants to sell them for $1 which would be 500 bitcoins back in early 2010 when this forum just began.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=25.msg159

I hope this guy managed to get rich off bitcoin even if his idea to sell wallpaper was pathetic lol At least he was in the right place at the right time which is more than I can say for myself.

The best way to say thank you:

Wow, according to my math that's a 2 million dollar pizza.

I would have loved a small slice of that!

Based on his address he sold 600 btc in 2011. If he wait 2 years it would be a great money.

On a similar note, back in 2010 before GPU mining and all that I solo mined a block with bitcoin-qt. Only to forget about this new fad and didn't backup the wallet. I either reinstalled or the drive crashed and poof. bye bye wallet.

Well how many people believed that the price would jump from lets say 0.01$ for 1BTC to 200$? If people did, there wont be no trade since everyone would w8 for that moment ( ppl know were sure it would reach that price ) and cash put then, and since there is no trade there is no real value. So be thankful that some poor miners sold 10k for few $.

+1

Everyone says after the fact and would've loved to been an early investor...
But would any of you honestly kept your BTC after it went up in value by 50%? 100%?  Most of us would've sold it wayyy before it reached the levels it has today!

It reminds of the Simpson episode where Homer sells his shares after it went some small % while the rest of the company held on and made a fortune!

Thats true, this is why Bitcoin will never be 1 mil USD/BTC.

When I think about it, it might never reach 1000 USD/BTC

True, but they forgot about their wallets with 1000 Bitcoins because these had almost no value.

I guess people trading among themselves. AS long as escrow was used you should of been fine. But, I guess not many people were reputable then because they had no past trades. Although, who would scam for $1? That would be silly.

Stop dwelling. It's still early in the game!  Grin

It's easy to look at things in a "i'm late to the game...." sense  because we're on here reading threads all day, when in reality if you ask someone on the street what "Bitcoin" is, they look at you as if your speaking a foreign language.

Yes, you brought it to the point!
There's still room for profit with BTC and I'm sure there will be some successfull alt coins as well.

I'm now trying to figure out which are worth investing in. :-)

Would be pretty sick to get in that early.  Oh well, its still very early imho.  Maybe in the next few years, people will be saying "oh god how I wish I got into this whole bitcoin thing in the early stages when it was only 4,000 per coin".  I wonder what the posible ceiling is... but its very high.
