Is the following possible:
Pretend I have funds in address X. Address Y is a popular address like the "correct horse battery staple" brain wallet address.
Can I create a transaction so funds go X into Y into X all in one transaction without risk of theft at address Y?

Bitcoins don't actually "go" anywhere.  They don't actually exist at all.  The concept of "bitcoins" is an abstraction that we humans use to make it easier to discuss the transfer of control of value that occurs without needing to understand the technical details.

Therefore, whether or not the bitcoins can safely "pass through" some insecure address depends a lot on how far you want to push that abstraction.

As an example, you could create a multi-sig transaction such that spending the output requires signatures from both the insecure address AND some secure address that you control.  Would this be considered "passing through" the insecure address?
