Not sure about the m1730 but I got a m1530 from dell back 3 years ago it was a horrible design and heat fried the parts all the time. This happened with two other friends too. Thank god we all got the extended warranty lol. Dell did so many replacements we all got brand new laptops for free I got an alien ware Shocked

Just curious do these run any better now?

Never had over heating issue with 1730 the 1530 yes they are smaller the 1730 is the alienware design size wise. I have extend complete care anyways so no matter what new laptops every 12 months anyways Smiley I have over 3.5 years left time wise out of $600 5 year warranty i paid for.
I will either sell the laptop or keep it and wait for the next gen of gaming system and then whoops I dropped the laptop and they cant fix it anymore then they send me the latest greatest gaming laptop.
thats why I paid the big buck for the best system on the market and then paid for the best warranty.

Plus if ever have issue I can repair my own laptops from dell Im a Certified Dell tech.

the larger the laptop the more breathing room it has.
plus i have always ran i8kfan program with cards fans on high and a laptop cooler and never gets hotter then 50 degrees under gaming load.

are you on crack? i bought my dell xps 1530 for 649. I'll believe that the 1700s series start at 1499 and maxes out around 2599 or 3000, but 5,200! Get a life, u got ripped off bro. I think the higher model was 1730... the newer xps series are the xps studio 16 series. They have new newer ones now with i5 & i7 cpus now and they retail for 600-700. Hopefully you'll get 600 at least, considering it has a MONSTER 8800GT. This guy has a better spec and is selling his for under 700 i believe. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=45598.0

the asus & sager dual sli cards at the time did go for under 3000, so i think ur BSin' about 5Gs, you probably spend 2k on those turbo ram and crap too rite?

I bought mine from dell, for $1800 over a year or two ago. That came with 2 years to you door service, A copy of Win7 ontop of my copy of Vista, a 500gb external hdd and the GPU upgrade. In the LA area, you couldnt sell this for more than 800 max and thats to someone who dosent know hardware.

800 gets your a nice new i7, this laptop is worth 300-500 depending on condition and battery life

If you found that funny or something i said useful i always appreciate spare change
