Greed of you people will be the end of Crypto...this coin looked promising, but whenever money starts appearing devs get into "fight" and leaving, splitting ect, no matter what coin is at stake...so sad

lol dude crypto ain't going no where - humanity ain't changed.  It was the same shit when the internet came out.  I don't even know what happened w/ the drama here, I just came for some info on the amd gpu mining, dont really care about the drama, shit will sort itself out.  Don't get too emotionally invested in one project though, tbh.  maybe except bitcoin Wink

and even that, should have a well diversified (but not over diversified) portfolio regardless of buying / trading / mining - from trading I learned not to get attached to a project .... it was hard to let go, trust me

and i ain't saying ravencoin won't be a huge project that changes the world, it very well may be, it's one of the more promising ones in my pov, but i've also now got my own set of indiciators i use to determine potential use case, market target, dev team, mining opportunity, etc

For me it lost its credibility...mining different things ATM. I am not emotional d00de Smiley just saying the obvious...there are fewer and fewer good projects. Shitty moves like these, whether they are doing it as strategy or on purpose, just goes along with global state mind of governments that crypto will be regulated and when regulation comes, you think they will let everybody participate like the case is today?? I don't think so...
So you in or out?
I succumbed to this thinking in 2010 with Bitcoin and have about 1-2k BTC on an old laptop or it's removed hard drive somewhere in this world - probably a dump

Unsure, not sure if pigeon being developed has something with this and will it turn into some messy thing, hope I'm way off...but, in general, I went into mining to help my sick brother who lost both kidneys with 34g, sold my car. Issue is I went in January this year, so I would be lying if money is not important for me, but I think it very much differs from greed that makes people do shitty things where people in a similar situation, for example, might end up screwed...I believe the tech can do amazing things, I believe in that...problem is rarely in tech. I will halve my efforts and hodl for time being

Not sure why you had to use the word "devs". Maybe you are misunderstanding the situation. There is no {{ devs get into "fight" and leaving, splitting ect }}. Ravencoin threads on this BitcoinTalk forum are like fan pages, created by enthusiasts. Actual developers are not going to spend time maintaining fan pages. They spend time developing.

Aha. Yes that is a understandable an gives perspective. The bad actors in this space that show up continuously makes me wonder what they really get out of ripping people off. Nothing really... just cash that they will waste and temporary self satisfaction that they tricked someone out of money.
I don't think this is the case with RavenCoin and they have just had a speed bump with the community leader. If they left it as was I think it would have been worse and had more attacks about not doing anything to rectify it.

If you started mining RVN in Jan you will have a big stash by now. I started this with the risk of it not being worth anything for a year so just holding as well and happy with it. I was enjoying the community but just waiting for all the mining questions to go away :-)

So I got all excited about this coin. Its supposed to be minable with avrageish hardware, So I thought let's throw some junk I have laying around at it overnight and see what happens......

used:
I7-2600 cpu  16g of ram. normal mining it makes ~260h/s cryptonight $.18/day
I7- 3770 cpu  16g of ram. normal mining it makes ~230h/s cryptonight $.16/day
nvidia gt 620 2g makes maybe 1-2 cent perday on nice hash lol( no I dont mine with this thing it was just laying around)

none of the miners I could find would even try to run the gt 620, kinda sux for a coin thats for lower end hardware.

results for around 10 hours of mining on both cpu on threeeyed pool:

0.33677807 rvn

what is that roughly 1/20th of what they would make on cryptonight? duno if the difficulty is just out of wack or what but this coin isn't remotely profitable or minable on " average hardware" as far as I can see. Its kinda to bad the concept was cool but unless this coin goes into the thousands per coin its not even a little profitable and most certainly not for the average jo miner.

Im calculating again on whattomine... with 6gpu im earning 2.99$ on  ravencoin and 4.50 $ on nicehash so how is ravencoin more profitable? im earning about 70-80 rvn per day

Nicehash is mining you BitCoin, which went down over $1000 in value in the last week. Roughly 13% drop.

RavenCoin is at $0.04 a coin, it's expected (or hoping) to at the very least break $1 one day.

So while today you are making $4.50 on Nicehash, that $4.50 became $3.91 after that 13% drop. Even if it climbed back up to $8000, you're back to $4.50 and even if it went back up to $9000, then you $4.50 became $5.08.

$2.99 of Raven coin today at $0.04 could end up being $74.75 (at $1 per coin) one day. That's why RavenCoin is worth it for us to mine. Could it never happen? Definitely. No one thought BitCoin would shoot up to $21,000 a coin. I doubt Raven will ever get close to that. But what if it went to a measly $10? Now that $2.99 in raven coin you mined PER DAY is worth $747.50.

That's the risk I'm taking with RavenCoin. I'm not doing it for money today but money tomorrow.

If you were to mine for 1 BitCoin, at $4.50 a day, it would take you 1509 days to earn $6,791 (todays value) If you were to get RavenCoin and it simply went to $1 a coin (74 coin a day)  you would have only had to mine for 91 days to make the same $6,791. I know my math doesn't take into account difficulty increase, the point is to illustrate the difference in how to earn between BitCoin on NiceHash and mining RavenCoin.

I'd rather gamble on RavenCoin and earn as much in 91 days of mining then to play it safe and mine with NiceHash and have to wait 1509 days to earn the same potential amount.

If you look it that way sure but future is unpredictible, its possible that btc will be 50k and also possible that year from now it will be 3k. Its also possible that this coin will be under 1 cent.. all is possible.. so i must look what is most profitable now and from my calculations nicehash is 35% more profitable.. also 2000 miners left suprnova rvn

Bitcoin has reached it's peak. RavenCoin is still ramping up. I'd rather risk my time on something that has room to improve rather than a coin that is stagnating and dropping. I don't need extra money, my real job pays me well. RavenCoin is an investment in the future.

Ravencoin was only CPU mineable in the beginning when there was no GPU miner released yet. Now there are thousands of miners with above average GPUs mining Ravencoin, all sharing a limited amount of block rewards.

You brought a GT 620 to a 1080 Ti farm fight.

Agreed. But this coin was originally intended for the average jo miner. The current implementation makes its purpose obsolete and kinda pointless was what I was pointing out. I understand the big farmers with 10 rigs speculating this coin for profitability. My point was if the coin cant do what it was intended to do then its value will likely not climb either as its intended purpose is false. Sure I could point my rigs at it, but IMHO I would be wasting my time as the coins premise is false and IMHO I don't think it will gain value. Essentially the big rig farmers are doing to this coin exactly what ASIC's do.

Ravencoin Miner v2.2.2

Linux support is here!
https://github.com/Ravencoin-Miner/Ravencoin/releases

v2.2.2
Added required files and permissions to source code to compile on Linux.
Windows release is the same as v2.2

Kraww!
https://imgur.com/a/Zw97u

v2.2
Kraww!
Added estimate for RVN earned per day (displays every 5th share)
Cleaned up Display:
-Removed hash order display
-Removed first algorithm display
-Removed Core clock, GPU temp, and GPU fan speed display, now only displays Efficiency (kH/W) and Power (W)
-(Afterburner and other programs display this better anyways)
-Note: Only removed display, the code to monitor these values is unaffected and any options related to them should be available.

The premise is ASIC resistant not GPU resistant. The intention is to have mining spread more evenly with lower priced GPU hardware compared to higher priced ASICs hardware. I wish everyone was limited to one rig per person but alas that will not happen.
