Sorry for the dumb question, but what will happen to RVN coins that are on exchanges "locked" in a sell position after the hard fork? Will the exchanges manages the hard fork for me? Will the name RVN remain the same or there will be a new name for the coin?

They really don't have that much. RVNStats isn't always reflecting everything.

Where can i read about the upcoming fork? Algorithm is changing? What do i have to do to keep on mining? I updated my wallet. What else?

the fork is for the wallet side. on the mining part, the only difference is how difficulty will be calculated. No more 2000 blocks mined in 7 hours than another 2000 in a week. Difficulty will adjust on a block-by-block bases.

Basically, you don't do anything, the pool has to update (and they will).

It took a while before Ravencoin finally addressed this issue. Block difficulty will now be more predictable and miners switching in and out will be minimized.

Step 1. Backup the old wallet so you will have a backed up .dat file

Where is that option in wallet? i have only "make a copy of the wallet" is that it?

Is it possible to lose all coins if i do something wrong?

Here is what I do (in Windows):

-stop the wallet
-open file explorer and goto "%appdata%" (this assumes you let it install in the default path when first run)
-copy the "raven" directory someplace (to save space, you only need the wallet.dat file in there, the rest is re-generated when you start the wallet)
-double check what you copied matches what was in the source directory.


I also make sure to run the wallet on a second computer at all times.  So take this "raven" directory (you really only need the wallet.dat file since the other stuff will soak up a lot of space) and place it in the %appdata% location.  Then put the raven-qt file on your desktop and start it.  It will then begin loading the block files  in your new %appdata%\raven directory and your coins balance will eventually appear when enough of the blockchain is read in.

Raven is falling into the same funk as Pigeon coin, the rush for the coin happens only on the difficulty downward spikes, then everyone abandons it and sells off until the next spikes. This is why the price keeps dropping, who wants to be in that shit cycle? See Pigeon coin's price...

The difference is that the devs on Ravencoin are actually active and are changing the way difficulty works at block 338778. These spikes will go away.

How does this affect people who are mining?
If you are mining via a mining pool, it will not affect your abililty to mine because the updates will be done on the pool side. However, if your mining payouts are going to an old wallet, you will not be able to access them on the new chain until you update that wallet.
