Do you want more than 168 million? Why? Total coins: ~168 million (est.) Hi Traderman, There are 210,240 blocks per year for four years, then that is cut in half, 105,120 for 4 years, then that is cut in half to 52560 for 4 years...etc, if you do that for 20 years the remainder becomes very small, that's where the estimate comes from . Buratino: As mining instruction implies BOINC project heavily utilizes CPU(s) and main memory resources, whereas GridCoin uses GPU(s) for mining. Is it indeed? In this version, the AMD GPU does the mining and you are free to use AMD or Nvidia or CPU for boinc, and its total project utilization drives the subsidy. In the version coming in the next 10 days, you can boinc projects that use the GPU (we found some that use the AMDs!) to gain more boinc credits, and the boinc credit trend over the lookback period helps drive the "shares" stored in the chain-- dont worry its similar in rewards, but more fair for heavy duty boinc users who want to take advantage of boinc using the GPUs. Thanks everyone for the support-- we seem to be growing. Grid

Unfortunately no. If you were to mine on the pool each block would only be rewarded 5 GRC. There's no way for an external pool to check the authenticity of BOINC utilization which is why Grid warranted to make a pool that ran on the client itself. Hopefully it'll be finished up soon!

So total coins should be 168mil. right? How about generation rate? How about difficulty changes? When do you expect last coin to be mined? Just didnt found this basic info... Mining DGC GRC! happily from today morning. Also I recomend to take a look at this crazy game: http://fold.it/portal/Its very addictive, especialy when you master hydrogen bonds

New version available:v1030 (MSI v3.1) is available for download on www.gridcoin.us. The MSI and the ZIP have been updated. Please update your clients. Note: This is not the much anticipated pool mining production version, but it contains the feature that will let you test pool mining. It is also critical that we go through this exercise to upgrade each clients block chain to the new expanded gridcoin version, which stores the boinchash in the chain, the boinc credits over time, and the avg user trend. It is important that these values start to propogate to all gridcoin users so we can move forward with a standard chain across all clients that will let us finish the development of the pool mining credit algorithm and let the block explorer see the boinc utilization, md5, and other security information in case anyone asks why the user received > 5 subsidy. There are 2 major issues you have to overcome to successfully upgrade. One, please backup your wallet and your gridcoin.conf file (you can make a backup folder in your users\yourname\appdata\roaming\gridcoin folder if you want to dump your entire folder in there. Then delete the Blocks and the ChainState folder-- the Blocks and ChainState must be wiped out in order for the database to expand. Download the new version to your machine, before running it: The second issue is you must delete your c:\program files (x86)\gridcoin folder contents (as the MSI installer will not kill the old gridcoin-qt.exe file or the dll files by itself, working on a fix for that to see if the installer will listen to upgrade commands eventually), so please erase your program directory and then re-install the new MSI. Launch it, and verify the client syncs up to the current block. To test that you are running the newest version, you can go into the gridcoin-qt Help | Debug | Console and type listminers. You should receive a pool mining report (v1.3). The boinc information will show up under "boinchash". Going forward, the information will be stored in the chain and propogated to other users automatically. Have a good one. Grid

Finally a coin that does not just waste power and ACTUALLY does something good for science.
Exchanges should step up and support this coin just on that fact alone.

Now I've done the whole setup prozess. But when I'm registering a mining modul in the Gridcoin Mining Modul the BOINC prozessing power is always zero. What should I do? Furthermore I've added some projects in BOINC and it's running now, but what did it exactly do? Forgive my poor questions but thats a really new terrain for me. stefan

Hey stefan, First, BOINC allows people to contribute processing power to research projects that require a great deal of compute power to finish. You can choose to do projects that do things such as help with anti-malaria research, mathematical computations, physics research, etc. Second, in your mining console, what is the number of your Mining Module Registered Version and your Threads? Also, did you install with the .msi or extract the .zip?
