What are the best gpu cards to get grc with? I was looking on amazon at RX 580's and they're cheap but they get bought up straight away! Tiny chance of actually getting one, unless from eBay at 2-3x the value. I did manage to get a 970 from warehouse at 50% off Cheesy

which video card to choose depends on the project you want to participate in. not always the top-end video card is better in terms of price / speed, it's probably not better than cheaper.

I have high hopes for this project, like everybody else in here. Can't wait for my PiGrid to arrive in the mail and to keep this growing influx of new adopters/users in the ecosystem Smiley

Are there any plans to distribute the claimed GBYTE to the end users of Gridcoin or will they be used to help developing the Gridcoin project? I saw that the Gridcoin pool was used to get rewarded by the Byteball initiative also awarding contribution to the WCG project:  https://wcg.report/7--2018-05-03%2007%3A45%3A42.html
Their announcement of the giveaway: https://medium.com/byteball/computing-for-good-again-3795336bdaed

Edit: Just to make it clear, I believe the importance of the wcg initiative to be so high that whatever it's used for is totally fine.

I stumbled over the coin after I was setting up a BOINC account through the Byteball distribution campaign. I must say I really like to provide processing power to help research projects and to get a little reward for that. I am wondering if I can set up Gridcoin by using an existing BOINC account?
I read the guide on the website to do so but I must admit I do not really understand how to set up. It seems the guide is very technically. Is there an easy to understand guide?

Earning Byteball and Gridcoin crunching World Community Grid

Byteball has started rewarding World Community Grid (WCG) participants for their contribution to the project.
WCG is also one of the whitelisted Gridcoin projects and members who are crunching this project have now an attractive opportunity to earn another coin while crunching for Gridcoin. You can earn $1.00 (in Bytes) for every 150,000 points generated. This is obviously a different metric than the reward allocation based on RAC and magnitude for Gridcoin.

Start-up bonus
When you are an existing WCG contributor, there is a start-up bonus available where you will receive a one of reward depending on the points generated so far. The following distribution will be applied:

$0.20 for 100,000 to 1,000,000 points
$3.00 for 1,000,000 to 10,000,000 points
$40.00 for 10,000,000 to 100,000,000 points
$150.00 over 100,000,000 points

I have the same problem but other way around. I am participating on Byteball campaign and its works very smooth. If you are a WCG member already, all to do is to change your WCG username to one that is given by the bot in the Byteball wallet. Then you need provide a payment address (also via bot) and that's it. Pretty easy.
I want to participate on the Gridcoin crunching as well but do not know how.

Update: If you want to join Byteball campaign, I just found a step by step tutorial on https://hardforum.com/threads/how-to-earn-byteball-running-wcg-distributed-computing.1959820/

II will look after that painting, will fondly care about it, believe me, I will grab a pointed stick with my caring hand and drive it through that cotton fabric, grab a chopper and chip the wooden foundation into 100 million chunks. How on this planet can that disgraceful mockery be called an art.

It's on Bittrex and Poloniex! If you're a European or US citizen, I don't see why would you need anything else and/or how would that benefit the project!

You see, this worked, this art made you to think, to feel jealous and angry.
Well, if this painting will be displayed at some blockchain event, you can try to make your dreams true)

I'm contantely getting "Computation Error" in the "TN-Grid Platform" project.
Is this happening only to me? Has anyone found a solution to this?

I think I know what's the problem. The correct address of the project is the "http://gene.disi.unitn.it/test" but the grcpool uses "https". It could be the reason the tasks crash the moment they're starting, maybe their's an attempt to communicate with the wrong address?
