I'v asked this before but nobody answered  Undecided
There is no mandatory fee hardcoded in gridcoin wallet, so this can cause a microtransaction flood in the blockchain ?

Rob did answer that actually...

Is it possible to mine Gridcoin in Linux?

Working on that now; Linux only works as a coin client; but I decided to take over the project;  I don't have an eta to finishing the boinchash-security deal yet; its really complicated.

Grid

I know you don't have ETA, but any estimate?
I converted my rig to Linux, and overall I think it was a good move.
However I really miss GRC mining....

Can grid please get rid of the: Gridcoin introduction - Newsflash video link here. It makes gridcoin seem like a scamcoin. Cry

Thanks.

* Alright, I removed this video since no one likes it! Smiley
* I discovered, that somehow, magically, all the green text regarding Boinc & Gridcoin disappeared - All the source code is there, but it is really strange, one of the jquery filenames have been renamed; Anyway I did put it back!

Yes I replied to that about 10 pages back, there is a microdust filter that was added to litecoin and we added the same one.

Fees are .02grc as soon as few transactions exist in a block.

One other thing. The grid picture on the main site is very large. It is 2 megs +. That needs to be reduced big time.

@Gridcoin
No problem, I understand that making gridcoin working with QT is a step before havint it work headless.

Quote
1) Regardless of whether noveau "should" work with wine, when you do a "wine regsvr32 dllname.dll" you should receive "types registered successfully", not a noveau error.  Figure out the answer to that and we can move past the first regsvr command in the instructions I posted.
What I wanted to say is that I have this nouveau error with everything in wine. It's like wine telling "please, use nouveau instead of nvidia, I don't like nvidia even if it works".
Not a problem since every program who should work in wine, work even with this error.

What I don't understand is this :
dll registering works but not ocx registering ...

Code:
[Yama@VaioLaptop wine]$ wine regsvr32 msvbvm60.dll
err:winediag:xrandr12_init_modes Broken NVIDIA RandR detected, falling back to RandR 1.0. Please consider using the Nouveau driver instead.
Successfully[ registered DLL msvbvm60.dll
[Yama@VaioLaptop wine]$ wine regsvr32 BoincLinux.dll
err:winediag:xrandr12_init_modes Broken NVIDIA RandR detected, falling back to RandR 1.0. Please consider using the Nouveau driver instead.
Successfully registered DLL BoincLinux.dll

Code:
[Yama@VaioLaptop wine]$ wine regsvr32 mschrt20.ocx
err:winediag:xrandr12_init_modes Broken NVIDIA RandR detected, falling back to RandR 1.0. Please consider using the Nouveau driver instead.
Failed to load DLL mschrt20.ocx
[Yama@VaioLaptop wine]$ wine regsvr32 mscomctl.ocx
err:winediag:xrandr12_init_modes Broken NVIDIA RandR detected, falling back to RandR 1.0. Please consider using the Nouveau driver instead.
Failed to load DLL mscomctl.ocx

I think your howto lacks something  Grin

edit :
Okay, problem found. .ocx files were not in the zip.

Now, ocx registering works :
Code:
[Yama@VaioLaptop wine]$ wine regsvr32 msvbvm60.dll
err:winediag:xrandr12_init_modes Broken NVIDIA RandR detected, falling back to RandR 1.0. Please consider using the Nouveau driver instead.
err:winediag:xrandr12

Code:
rpcuser=Cubie
rpcpassword=x
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcport=9332
server=1
poolmining=false
gen=0
#PORTS
#RPC Port: 9778
#RPC Port (testnet):  19778

edit2 : Could it be a problem of architecture ?
I'm using a 64bit cudaminer while your wine exe might be 32bit ...

Hi Yama,

Great work, you are almost there.  I don't think architecture.
I believe the syncing issue will go away within 20 mins (that is when we restart net daemon).

I don't see anything wrong with your gridcoin.conf file.
Try restarting QT and doing a
telnet localhost 9332

See if you actually connect (you should get a blank screen but no error).
If you can connect that way solo mining should work.

So your boinc credits are showing up in Linux?

You sure you don't have another daemon listening on 9332 ?  Maybe shut off all other daemons first, or change rpc port.

Great.

LOL, No, I just grabbed one that looked like the background color matched the current masthead color;  I actually wanted to use the ball we all like, but after making it transparent it looked like crap.

Once we have our real logo and vote I'll be switching lol.

any news on coding the total supply on the block explorer?  Huh

Its a big deal; still working on it.  We're getting a feed of fees+master coinbase amounts but still missing CPU mined coinbase amounts.

BTW, What is this for?  What project is waiting for this data  - can you please send a link?

Thanks,
Grid

The reason people want to see the supply is so we can get Gridcoin on coinmarketcap.com !

It doesn't really convey what Gridcoin is about. If there was a grid surrounding it or something like that, that would have been cool.
