Hey Spoetnik, try cpu Boinc mining, it is very cool. You get GRC just for doing Boinc work.

Hi all!

@ ROB
I've had a long at the # of CPU miners today and compared it with BOINC stats. Even though we have ~700 CPU miners, there are only 314 hosts doing work for team Gridcoin, I guess it will be similar with GPU miners.
So basically the stats available at BOINC stats do show approximately 1/2 of the work we as a community really do, that's not good.

I would suggest adding a feature that would be checking if a miner is in team Gridcoin and actually enforce it.
I think it is important to keep track of the work that we're doing for BOINC.

What do you think?

Andrew.
Yes, I'm all for a bigger team but also all for freedom; so if we can detect that a user is not in the pool and suggest they add themselves to the team that would be cool.

I have a project that Im working that sends all the boinc CPID's to the network, and I believe we can query the user team by CPID.

I think baby step #1 (for me to do), will be listing the GRC address, CPID, and Team in the Pool Leaderboard.  Then we can at least see users who aren't in the team from the web UI.  Ill add that to my list.

Grid

Hi Rob,

You're right, forcing people to do anything wouldn't probably be good.
@baby step #1 - this would be very cool..I guess it would then be very easy to add up all the credits even for non-team members and let's say show a sum at block explorer.

Hi guys,

Another place where Gridcoin can already be traded is here:
cryptotc.us

Rob, can you please add it to the first post?

Andrew.

Thanks Andrew for all your contributions.
Will do.

Thanks for all your hard work! Wink
From what I see at C-Cex, it's starting to pay off Smiley

WOW that is a record for sure. I have a feeling as more and more people realize how important distributed computing and Gridcoin really are, we are gonna see huge
increases in daily credits.
Andrew.

I've been monitoring this chart:

http://boincstats.com/en/stats/-1/team/detail/118094994/charts

I've been monitoring the world position and we are very close to being #99 in the world.  I'm hoping we can eventually be in the top 50!

Grid

It's looking really great..and I'm sure, that's just a start. Smiley

For CPU mining can I just have BOINC running on my other rig without gridcoin since it's just racking up BOINC work units that are reported on the BOINC site?

Hi Inrideo,

no, your wallet needs to be running so it will be able to send out the beacons(the small outgoing transactions) that verify your work done for BOINC in order to receive payments.

On each machine? Darn. I figured that as long as one machine was running the wallet and sending the beacons that the other machines could just be contributing work units that would show up on the BOINC site Smiley

The other machines do contribute the work and it will show up on the BOINC site, however I don't think you'll get GRC for the work they do on your main PC....I think that the work is limited per host, so you can't use other machines to rack up credits for the first one.

However I'm not 100% sure and you should probably ask Rob to confirm.

I agree on the wallet skin, the colors are pretty bad. Once the new logo is picked the color scheme of the wallet should be changed to match it.

I am in!

Voted!
note that coinpayments can be paid with BTC, LTC and DOGE

I have used these guys with other coins to purchase items - they are really a cool system - put your stuff in the basket and checkout - they then give you a large list of coins to pay with and email you an address to pay to.

I guess I better weigh in on the vote for the coin colors then on cryptotalk.

I originally planned on adding a theming engine that let the user pick the color scheme.
But I do agree we should at least make it match the new coin colors at first, and maybe later we will still add theming so the user can choose.

But, I still like black/green since its easier on the eyes than black on white that every other coin uses.

Have a good one!

I think, there is small problem because coin is not very popular... it's need use a lot of way for popularity
etc. a lot of people don't know what is BOINC...

But good luck with joining mining coins, with useful things, its have great potential!

I just did an interview with crypt.la and I think the interview went well; lots of good q&a there; will update when it is released.

I also spent 2 hours on the phone with Dogecoins PR rep; they may start a campaign for us in the future for mutual benefit; we'll see.
