For the last hour or so, version v2.1.4.6-g71-prod has been trying to rebuild the blockchain on one of my machines (35 weeks behind). Most of the time it shows "no block source available - 0 active connections to Gridcoin network." Occasionally it gets one connection, then loses it after a minute or three.

Before the upgrade it was in sync.

I haven't seen that behaviour before. Any suggestions?

Edit: no change after another 1.5+ hours. Along the way, I did another upgrade (nothing changed) then cleaned out the relevant appdata files except the wallet and restarted (nothing changed).

Edit: update - left it on all night - no change - 35 weeks behind, 0-1 active connections. Did one more upgrade just now and it started to sync normally, 11 active connections and going strong atm!

The block chain is the main innovation of Bitcoin. It is the first distributed timestamping system.

New p2pool for Gridcoin, still on testnet only for now, but so far looks like everything is working. This will be the first method of mining GRC that will be share based on Boinc RAC (recent average credit). So you won't have to solve whole blocks anymore, now you get paid just like any other scrypt coin pool.

hi guys.
Help with a problem.
when I run a miner in the pool, I am closing gridcoin Wallet(gridcoin-qt.exe).
start production in solo no such problems.
gridcoin Wallet can work from 30 minutes to 12 hours, and close.
Ran through the console and a separate mining cgminer-3.7
the problem is at work in the pool.

sorry for the bad translation, do not know much English.

explain please, on the official site FAQ it is told that the CPU mining with BIONIC is temporarily disabled, however at forums speak that it works. That is it is possible to continue a CPU mining for the sake of participation in the BOINC projects without remuneration by a coin?

I too would be very interested in getting CPU mining setup on Linux. If anyone can give me the rundown I would be very appreciative.

You need to follow the directions included on github: https://github.com/gridcoin/Gridcoin-master/blob/master/CompilingGridcoinOnLinux.txt (make sure you do the part about building boost 1.55 first before you compile gridcoind)

Specifically:

sudo apt-get install ntp git build-essential libssl-dev libdb-dev libdb++-dev libboost-all-dev libqrencode-dev
sudo apt-get install qt-sdk
cd /
sudo mkdir boost
cd boost
sudo wget http://sourceforge.net/projects/boost/files/boost/1.55.0/boost_1_55_0.zip/download
sudo unzip boost_1_55_0.zip
cd boost_1_55_0
sudo apt-get install python-dev
sudo apt-get install python-bzutils
sudo apt-get install libbz2-dev
sudo ./bootstrap.sh --includedir=/usr/include --exec-prefix=/usr/local --libdir=/usr/lib
sudo ./b2
sudo ./bjam install
cd ~
sudo git clone https://github.com/gridcoin/Gridcoin-master
cd ~/Gridcoin-master/src
sudo rm obj/*.o
sudo chmod 755 leveldb/build_detect_platform
sudo make -f makefile.unix USE_UPNP=-
sudo strip gridcoind
sudo chmod 755 gridcoind

****EDIT****
You will also need to contact Rob (the developer) and request a key for your .conf file in order to sync with the network once gridcoind is compiled
