You can just use the same conf file. Or is this a fresh install? What version are you using?

Yes this is a fresh install. Version 2.1.7.7. Although it seems to be syncing now. With my old conf file, after a restart. Hopefully it finishes.

Thanks

EDIT: All synced up Grin

We had a classic release a few days ago that fixed the 125,300 block problem - just click upgrade and it should be fixed.

Thanks,

Hey all sorry for the Block Explorer not syncing.  I can't get any connections to the gridcoin daemon since upgrading to the latest version.  Please let me know if you have any other addnodes other then the supernode.

today is the day of our greatest jump in efficiency!
the new client is able to leverage 98% of mining-power towards use in research - all goes to scientific benefit!
setup has never been easier, choose your project (e.g. Rosetta@Home fighting Ebola), and start mining for good!

Still waisting energy on Proof-of-Work? Use your Rigs for scientific progress!

One of my Win7-64 machines auto-updated to the latest version and another did not, fwiw. I waited a day or two then updated it manually without incident. Both are now on "v2.1.7.7-g77-retirement". I see the Mining Module window has returned - I was enjoying life without it. Some months back, I spent many not-so-happy hours adjusting settings there, but in fairness I think most of the issues came from a flaky 290X graphics card.

Anyway - hoping for a nice smooth transition later today. I can only guess at the amount of behind-the-scenes work that has gone into it. Thanks!

Foundation Block Calculation Explained - Proof Of Research
==========================================================

1.  Classic Minted from GRCBX: @Block 192650 (GRCBX=29,876,367)
2.  Classic Minted from Cryptoblox: @Block 188215 (Cryptoblox = 31,575,238)
3.  CryptoBlox Block #s 188216-192650 = 4435 Blocks * 150GRC = 665,250 = 32,240,488
4.  Difference between CryptoBlox and GRCBX = 2,364,121
5.  Classic emitted between today and when subsidy decreases (block 192650-199000 = 6350) Est 952,500 more subsidies before decrease
6.  Estimated Subsidies for Classic between block 199000 and 285400 (when classic retires; betwen 10-20-2014 and 03-30-2015) = 86400blocks = 86400*10grc = 864,000
7.  Foundation Block Calculation:
      a.  31,575,238 (Cryptoblox mint during upgrade:block 188215) + 665,250 (Cryptoblox current (10-11-2014)) = 32,240,488 TOTAL GRC as of Today
      b.  32,240,488 (Cryptoblox today) + 952,500 (Classic Emission schedule until 10-20-2014) = 33,192,988 Projected minted Coins on 10-20-2014
      c.  33,192,988 (Total projected Gridcoins as of 10-20-2014 when subsidy decreases to 10grc) + 864,000 (Classic emissions during end of life span @ 10grc) = 34,056,988
8.  Foundation Block Final Grand Total: 34,056,988 * 10 (New multiplier) = 340,569,880 <----  This is the amount for the Proof Of Research Foundation Block
9.  Proof Of Research Foundation Block: 340,569,880

In laymans terms, this is the amount that will be distributed to our 750-1250 distinct GRC holders/investors through the coin burning process.
All Gridcoins will eventually end up in the proof-of-research chain when we retire Classic.

Coins left over after Mar 30 2015 will be audited, highly scrutinized, and used wisely by the foundation for advertising and dev bounties.

We are working on the Foundation Block for the new wallet and everything is on schedule.

The new wallet download requires a new link.

The ETA is approx 3 hours.

The new wallet requires scrypt mining for the first 2050 blocks, then transitions to pure Proof Of Research.

I will be releasing the new Research version in 15 minutes for final Production Validation.  You can scrypt mine against it.  I have a lot of configuration to do and will need the new version to be running, so please stay tuned and we can start scrypt mining ASAP.

Running fine for me, at least on the surface. Now at block 134 (changing fast).

Is it OK/safe/recommended to keep the classic version running at the same time? They appear to use different files, but I'm not sure if there is overlap.

I kept BOINC running, closed classic and started the research version, fwiw.

I really like the pure Proof of Research!!

I've built the wallet from github without problems (yay!), but can't connect Sad Using .conf file
Code:
rpcuser=username
rpcpassword=password
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcport=9332
listen=1
poolmining=false
cpumining=true
email=my_boinc_projects_email
addnode=supernode.gridcoin.us
addnode=node.gridcoin.us // didn't know which supernode is valid
BTW 2 questions:
1. I don't want to mine scrypt (particularly not on cpu), should I leave cpumining=true or not??
2. I have boincs under 1 username but on a few machines - is it enough to have one wallet with the proper boinc_project_email address, or do I have to have a separate wallet on each machine?

Hi AI,

Yes you can run them side by side.

On that important note: Please dont forget about classic as we have to keep it running properly for 5 more months so everyone can burn their coins Smiley

You can use whatever port you prefer for mining, as long as you set it in the config file, but the important thing to know is each wallet has to have its own port, so if you used 9332 on classic, you have to pick a different port on Research to run them side by side Smiley
