I hope it's the last upgrade and now it starts working Smiley

as far as I understand it that depends on the BOINC projects

I think seti@home uses GPU other projects use the cpu
...but I´m not completely sure about that

Who should be sure if not the GRC team? You and dev are a few guys who made a really good thing, create it and promote it - this is great. But you are the people who should know and tell Smiley I'm not a newbie at such things, but still I don't understand what and how. Most people on forums are guessing, not sharing a real know-how. Simple question: how do YOU mine GRC, what projects, CPU or GPU... etc ?
Compare what you've written with your website: http://www.gridcoin.us/Guides/BOINC/whitelist.htm How to understand the list? BTW: seti is in maintenance mode (checked today)

BTW: observation of the things for 2 weeks show that connection of PoS (old bagholders who use milliWatts of energy to have their wallets running in background) and PoR (new users earning day by day with hundreds of Watts daily), is not fair.

The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

Hi all,

I have been using BOINC 2 weeks now and gridcoin POR about 1 week but i haven't got any coins yet.  All of my BOINC projects have over 100 RAC and they show up in gridcoin wallet.

My questions:

Do i need to actually have some coins in the wallet to get more? ( If so, where i can get them since i cant get mining to work in classic version)
Does boinc magnitude need to be 100 or over?

If you POR wallet is empty you won't get anything. My suggestion would be to buy some coins @ c-cex or poloniex, then you can burn them to your POR wallet and you will then start getting interest and POR blocks.

Research will be released to exchanges once the chain is stable enough. For now there are to many forks due to lots of new versions the last days.

last weeks  Grin

BTW: what about the boinc points that have been credited to the users last time? Are they lost and people will get the coins only for the last day or the wallets will recognise that one's points have never been changed to coins?

There is a lookback period of two weeks. So you will be rewarded for all work done in those two weeks. Provided you find enough blocks.

Alicea you have a lot of questions that can probably be answered by reading the wiki:

wiki.gridcoin.us

Most of the discussion takes place at https://cryptocointalk.com/forum/464-gridcoin-grc/
There are many knowledgeable and helpful team members who read and post information their daily.

Documentation is a weakness that we are addressing, currently the wiki is the most up to date and complete single source about everything Gridcoin, both the Classic wallet in retirement and the new Research wallet.  A white paper is being worked on and the website will be updated soon.

As for your question about credits I think these FAQ's might answer:
http://wiki.gridcoin.us/FAQ#Is_it_true_that_someone_would_not_lose_reward_if_blocks_are_created_on_a_fork.3F
http://wiki.gridcoin.us/FAQ#Is_it_possible_to_join_a_pool.3F

Yeah Smiley a lot of brilliant comments Smiley

If I didn't appreciate the idea of PoR, I would pack this in and send to devil... But I do appreciate, so the first thing I do when I wake up is to check if wallet syncs and if there's a new version on github. And the last thing before night is compiling an upgrade <lol> I must really believe you guys

I have a question: I've burned all my old GRC..and now I got POR (research) coins. They are not tradeable anywhere yet? They won't be for next few months until old coins are all burned or what?

We had some sync issues with the new POR wallet, now it seems most of them are taken care of, so within maybe a week we should have the POR GRC on the exchanges, unless there is some unexpected complications somewhere!

Yeah! Finally my wallet shows "boinc mining" again, but hasn't mined any PoR block since yesterday (it's left open on one of boincing machines).
