Hey guys,

So I can mine all day no problem, I go to bed at 1:30 am, wake up at 6:30 and cgminer is not running.  It is setup to start as soon as the machine boots.  I start it manually only to find that cgminer.exe has been deleted.  I was told it might be antivirus so I turned it off.  I turned off auto update as well just in case.  It still happened the next night.

I am sure the information is in the even log somewhere but I am not sure what to look for.  The events that happened in that time did not cause a reboot and seem to be chrome related.

  Thoughts?

Transactions must be included in a block to be properly completed. When you send a transaction, it is broadcast to miners. Miners can then optionally include it in their next blocks. Miners will be more inclined to include your transaction if it has a higher transaction fee.

Just boot Linux off a 2gb pen drive and mine there.

But yeah you have a virus, or an anti-virus thinks it's virus.

add an exemption in your virus scanner. most AV software thinks any mining software is a virus. sounds like yours is totally autonomously removing "threats".

edit: I agree with gator. linux is much better suited to mining.

avast flagged it for me as well. bfgminer too. most of the AV companies added both of them to the blacklist. Both cgminer and bfgminer have been modified to malware in the past, which led both programs to be flagged as AV. make sure to download it from a save site though, just to be sure. The creators dl links are good.

I thought that disabling the antivirus I had would have stopped that.  I did add exceptions for the others I had installed, hopefully that works.  Booting from a USB for linux mining is not an option yet. This computer still functions as a media server and photo storage until I ca generate enough money to buy more gear. (doge helped there for sure!!)

From what I can see I had microsoft security essentials, AVG (removed), and malwarebytes.

exceptions added for all.

False positive with your anti-virus.
