It depends on what coin will you need to store. If you wanna store Bitcoin, Electrum is a good wallet. If you wanna store some different multi coins Exodus is a good one.  You can download a one with your choice.

Desktop wallets are usually safer, but online wallets are more friendly.

But if you go to obscure websites, don't know anything about privacy, computing, do not use an adblock, do not use antivirus and antimalware, all of these wallets are pretty unsafe.

If you use a desktop wallet and your computer is infected, you will probably lose your coins. I think online wallets may be a bit safer for those users because they have 2FA.

The greater risk of desktop mobile and online wallets are user's bad habits.

I think this post may help you, if you use those wallets. Let's Talk about Privacy

desktop wallets are usually more user-friendly. about security it depends a lot on you how you store the json-file for example and about the choice of your passphrase. if you for example store your passphrases in a textfile somewhere on your pc then both types will not be secure.

i prefer desktop wallets like the Ark Wallet, which is user-friendly as well.

Better desktop wallets without middle server. Online wallets can be hacked and most of people can lose their money.

I agree with above posts. If you have secure computer it is always safer to use desktop wallet than going to online service that can be hacked and could steal your private keys.

Desktop wallet is only as safe as the computer its on. Make sure you have a solid anti virus and keylogger software in place. Mobile wallets are just as vulnerable but really the true additional threat is that you can physically misplace your phone much easier. In the end, neither the desktop nor mobile option is the most secure, but generally speaking the desktop wallet is a safer option as you have more control over security measures.

**If by online wallet you meant you're account on the exchange platform you use: no, absolutely never use this as your "wallet" because you do not have control over your keys in this case. If something goes wrong with the exchange site and they go down, you lose your coins.

Cheers!

Use this link.

Most of them are user friendly and easy to use. I haven't tried all of them but I have tried to use 2 of them.
1. Greenaddress
2. Electrum

It depends on so many factors. Desktop wallets from a third party are probably just as unsafe as online wallets from a third party because both have some kind of access to your private key or are hackable.

If you're talking about a desktop wallet that's from the core dev team, aka, the official wallet. Then it's 100% safer.

But online wallets carry that extra degree of hackability because they're available to anyone 24/7. Anyone can hack the website of the online wallet and access the database of private keys. Whereas a desktop wallet isn't accessible 24/7 if your computer is dc from the internet or turned off.

I kind of disagree. This would be true if we were to assume that every third party desktop wallet has a backdoor installed, but that's not true, and is verifiable on open-source projects. It's different for online wallets because you're using their servers to store your data, and you don't even have access to your private keys on most of them.

The best desktop wallets will always be safer than the best web wallets as a rule of thumb.

It depends on how much you have on a wallet. If its significant, i would recommend you to get desktop wallet, its safer.
On the other hand, online wallet is always with you and you can send payments driving your car
