Heads up for newbies:

we have not heard from TF yet, but there may be some sort of security compromise on inputs.io. people are reporting that their wallets are being cleaned out and bitcoins sent to this address: https://blockchain.info/address/15Ctwosw7VCNHp5Rp1ZoviLaV41nZ59spx

it now has over 28 btcs.

see reddit: http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1pw46j/someone_just_transferred_0095_from_my_inputsio/

as a precaution, i suggest immediately moving any funds on deposit to a bitcoin wallet that you have full control over.

TF, speak up, please.

Update, 11/7/13: inputs.io "hacked" almost 2 weeks ago. meanwhile TradeFortress has been allowing people to continue to deposit into Inputs and Coinlenders the whole time. now he's issuing "partial refunds".

you look shady as hell, TradeFortress.

Please enlighten us how Inputs.io works. I thought it worked like Blockchains' Mywallet?

it is not like blockchain, which is an actual wallet you can download/back up. inputs is a shared / hosted wallet, meaning your wallet is not really YOUR wallet. it just has a database that shows an amount of BTC based on the addressess linked to you.

It's a gigantic mixer.

It's offchain. No distributed confirmations, no fees.

Why am I not surprised?  How many times did I tell people that inputs.io is a bank account and not a wallet.

Isn't it like one of the best amongst the online ones?
except we put all our trust in TF that the security features are ACTUALLY secure -- they may not be.

OK, withdrawn all funds from there until further notice; hopefully TF will keep us informed because this is a critical issue!

TradeFortress has given an update on this issue at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=248803.msg3482410#msg3482410.

The attacker was able to empty the balance on accounts with the API key enabled. The issue is being actively looked upon. API access has been disabled.

Everyone who has lost money will be fully reimbursed.

TF will fix this and refund everyone. Nothing to worry about Smiley
i am not worried about that. it is only 28 btc. he has much more to spare i am sure. i am worried when 5000 btc gets stolen.

Storing that much btc on an online wallet isn't smart :p

How about 5 BTC from 1,000 people?

There has been a lot of hype about inputs.io lately. I have not gotten to know it, though. Why all the hype? What are its positive features?

I really like the interface of inputs.io and have used it quite a bit recently, but only for a few mBTC, not much more than that.

Offline storage for serious money, never forget.

- slick design/interface (I like it a lot)
- offchain transactions (with no fee)
- built in mixer
- several security features that can protect against malware on the user end stealing Btc

the big disadvantage is that you have to trust TF and his security.

My account was breached too.  I had very little in there, thankfully!  BitChicksHusband was not happy because he told me to move them.  I guess hubby is smarter than me. Wink  There.  He has it writing now!  Grin
