Yippee!!!  Datacoin OP moved to Announcements (Altcoins).  I was getting lost in all the clutter.

I think we need to start working on alternative versions of the client with things like PoS and personal blockchains.  Perhaps cryptrol/datacoin or maxsolnc/datacoin on github?  The bitcoin devs do the same.  We can then see what dev thinks of them when we make pull requests.  My rusty C++ is slowly reviving - this coin is one of the most innovative, and the programming is very interesting.

Bitcoin took more than 2 years to take off.  Datacoin will probably be similar while all the extra features are added to it.

Well, I'm not miner, I'm investor that put some BTC into this coin. I do not plan to dump, I sure this coin has a great idea and future. It's ideal complement to namecoin, but looks like we have really small community.

Respond at reddit threads. The last 25 days we have 30% more subscribers there i think.

will be done

Make datacointalk more energetic. I have ideas for it but i need to know people are really looking on datacointalk. So post something there Wink

I'llask mstfck for that

also cryptrol's idea about pos is good and i was thinking about it. a small % per year will be enough for people being awarded that they store the blockchain

I was thinking about it from the first days after release, but it seems not really easy

maxsolnc make a new thread for a 3d pool. Since we have a reward still i think, dont we? Make a thread like 300DTC reward for another pool. xpool for example was build 3 days after i communicated with killbyte on peercointalk. He had just made a primecoin pool and it wasnt difficult.

I'm not sure that we need 3rd pool just now. Even 2nd pool doesn't have enough workers comparing to gpool, even with twitter promotions

The idea with a giveaway that people will take only if they register in datacointalk was good.

Also dont give more than 1DTC on giveaways. But make more of them or make them last longer.

And why i dont make personally a giveaway? Cause i dont have enough DTC... i have less than 2k...

I can start one more giveaway today.

Cryptrol will be better choise (if he wants to work with core development). I really don't have much experience in C++ , I can write some code, but it won't be really good code. I still work with all guys who write mails to datacoin mailbox (devs, promoters, investors), but there was very low activity during holidays. We promised that we'll have more active promotions after New Year, now it's time to translate our promises into actions. Stay tuned!

I am both but with limited money. My theory about price being so low and no movement is that BTER is not really the best exchange, people afraid of it so noone cares. The bet is what happens once we reach cryptsy. Hopefully the coin will rise and will never again drop so down. The faster we reach cryptsy the faster this coin is getting more solid. Thats my bet with my limited money. And i am glad my money support a real coin with innovative ideas.

Ah guys remember that one thing we must point out is that Datacoin is strictly CPU coin. Together with Primecoin.

The rest CPU coins are starting to getting mined with GPU also. This is happening for quark based, protoshares and memorycoin. Although gpu mining is limited for now but still is more efficient.

So point this fact out when you see a CPU coins list or someone asking!

I, too support this unique coin and will do whatever I can to help.

I am a veteran Windows/.Net/MSSQL developer but I'm pretty rusty (like, 10 years ago rusty) on Linux/C++.  I do however own a web hosting company with several servers, 40+Mbps of very reliable bandwidth, backup generators, the works.

Don't forget to vote for DTC on Cryptsy!

do you have experience with QT? Or do you want to work with external applications for Datacoin?

No experience with QT, but like I said, I do have access to a pretty nice colocation facility with plenty of bandwidth.

I completely agree with you. I just lost a few thousand DTCs on BTER. I have contacted support a few times and not a single reply, dead silence. I have now lost all confidence in DTC trading on BTER. Up until a couple of days ago, I had no issues with them, please use BTER at your own risk. Somebody has my coins and they are dumping it fast and driving down the market. I just wish that they would disable trading until they have the issue resolved, but it seems like that is asking too much from them.

Datacoin is a great coin and I wish that BTER does not destroy it. Also I stopped mining Datacoin a couple of days ago until I can safely trade again.

If you want immediate profit, then your best option will be to allocate your resources and mine Primecoin. BTC-E is a solid exchange for Primcoin, I have had zero issues with them. Unfortunately, I think that Datacoin's trading volume is too low for them.

I will help with the giveaways if we can get this coin on a good exchange. I still have about 1,200 immature coins that I will be willing to contribute to the giveaways.

Supercomputing don't worry about your coins. I had issue with NMC deposit on bter in the past, they solved it after 5 days(support is very busy/unresponsive). Most likely coins are not stolen.
Try contact them with QQ(like icq) 930605188
I have more faith in bter stability then in cryptsy, had much more issues with cryptsy than bter

Thank you and I will try contacting them with QQ.

I did some research and I now understand the issues BTER is having. Due to some programming error on their part, some accounts were over credited while other accounts were under credited. This seems to have been going on now for about a week and it affected more than just DTC. Of course, those who got the extra coins tried to dump them for whatever they can get for them. But BTER is not going to let them make any withdrawals until they reconcile the differences. So the good news is that I will get back my DTCs but I do not know when and how much they will be worth then.

Cryptrol, do you know in which source files to find the Protoshares personal chains?

I forked/copied the datacoin source on github.  Perhaps, if you are interested, you could do the same.  We need a sandbox in which to play with the source.  If we implement something interesting we could send a pull request to the dev, and maybe help the project a little.

For now I am just reading the code, trying to see where it differs from the bitcoin client.

I think you can get advanced info from their forum. Don't know about this 20DTC reward, how did you notice it?

I have noticed stuff like this also where the coinbase transactions plus the transaction fees do not add up correctly while using this chain browser: http://www.chainbrowser.com/datacoin/

I haven't had the time to look at what is going on, but either the Datacoin implementation is broke, or the chain browser implementation is broke. They both cannot be right and give two different results on the same block.

The transaction fees plus the coinbase transaction should equal the block reward, at least that's how it works with Bitcoin.
