I see a recurring pattern of what cryptocoins do to get themselves noticed.  They pay to get into the "pay" exchanges like Nova, Cryptopia and C-CEX.  Then they go for a publicity campaign and hope that the big exchanges (Kraken, Poloniex and Bittrex) will pick them up.

I checked the cost of a splash on CoinTelegraph.  0.5BTC.  A little high for the moment.

Then a friend suggested Twitter.  And we now have https://twitter.com/DatacoinX

Please follow this Twitter account on your Twitter accounts.  The idea is to have as many followers as possible, so that we control our own publicity.  Like Trump.

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

1) How to compile a Windows-qt wallet - sorry I am a Windows person but not by choice Roll Eyes
2) How to interact with the wallet using php and conf file.
3) Set up a simple block chain on Digital Ocean.
3) Set up a mining pool on Digital Ocean.

Hi Hamburger,

I think I may be able to update the Gitian recipes for Datacoin and send a pull request to Graham's repository.
Using them, I should be able to build the Windows wallet and share it with the masses and then anybody who wants to use the Gitian recipes can similarly build a wallet without much additional effort.  I don't know the steps one would do these days on whichever Windows version they're using to build Datacoin.  Generally, when I build a Windows wallet, I do it inside of Linux with the Gitian workflow.

With regard to the PHP and configuration files, I am not sure what you are asking here...  What is it you want to do?

About Digital Ocean, are you asking how to run a Datacoin wallet there or are you asking how to do something different?

As for the Mining Pool, I will leave that to our expert Pool Operators to answer, I'm not certain about what they're doing for our proof-of-work algorithm.
Though, if I were going to make a pool, I'd look to add to the ecosystem rather than compete with it.  In other words, maybe a p2pool to compliment the existing pool.

Best Regards,
-Chicago

Hi,

Just want to know if anyone could help me to achieve the following?

1) How to compile a Windows-qt wallet - sorry I am a Windows person but not by choice Roll Eyes
2) How to interact with the wallet using php and conf file.
3) Set up a simple block chain on Digital Ocean.
3) Set up a mining pool on Digital Ocean.

I'll send you all of my DTC 600.23  Grin  for this educational experience.

Thank you,

H

For Windows and Android wallets you should be able to use QtCreator with the Windows and Android kits.

I did the Windows wallet for a different coin and you have actually inspired me to look at the Android wallet for Datacoin.

If you will do Android wallet with QT libs, can you share knowledge?

I will be discussing all the problems on this page, yes.  And what I am doing  (dependencies, compiler, kit etc).

muf18 DatacoinX currently has 224 followers.  Yes, I do follow everyone who follows DatacoinX, but that is part of the way of doing marketing with Twitter.  To cover the crypto community I followed all the exchanges, all the leading lights (like Vitalik Buterin), all the big mining pools, all the fintech companies, all the interesting ICO's, and all the leading coins.  Some of them then followed me back.  Looks like for every 100 people you follow, 20% will follow you back.  We followed more than 1000, so that is how we got more than 200 followers.  Apparantly this is one of the main methods of Twitter marketing.

The other must-do is to issue about 50-100 tweets per day.  Otherwise you will not really be noticed.  That is only possible with automatic tweeters and I will use SocialOomph.  Still busy setting everything up.

Bottom line is that Datacoin is a great coin with a nice name and brand.  It should have had great success if the developer had continued.  Forgive me if I am wrong but if we use standard Internet marketing (Twitter, Facebook and Google), this coin should take off.  Most of the early coins that died did not use extensive marketing.  Twitter is free (!!!) and reaches the whole world.  I think it will help.

On another note:  does anyone know Claude Royer who owns datacoin.info?  I see it expires 23 November 2017.  It needs serious editing.

No you first followed 1000 random accounts, who follow back, and then you got 200 observers.
Because otherwise is very hard to come up. Now we at slimcoin have 100+ observers, after 2 months, of tweeting, but we weren't following everyone like crazy.

No, I am only following crypto people.  Famous crypto people and random crypto people.  Hopefully most of them are interested in Datacoin.
I followed all your Slimcoin followers as well.  Lets see what happens. Grin

Ok, lol. I mean it's a little bit of overkill I think, because this followers, which you get aren't interested in your coin, aren't keeping attention on your project.
They just do F4F, so it's not so important. Maybe I'll try to follow some crypto too, but I'll not go crazy to observe 1000+ lol.

The following exchanges ask for money (BTC) to be listed:

Yobit:  0.1 - 0.2 BTC
Nova:  1.0 BTC
Cryptopia:  Vote with BTC.  About 2 BTC
C-CEX:  Vote with BTC.  About 2.5 BTC.  Datacoin is listed on the vote.

CEX.io is busy with an addlist.  No guarentees.
BTCPOP is also busy with an addlist.  No guarentees.

Any ideas on how to raise that money?

We now have 244 followers on our Twitter feed.  (www.twitter.com/DatacoinX).

Our Twitter feed is now automated through SocialOomph.

Anybody know how to mirror the blockchain difficulty from Bytestamp onto the Twitter feed?

 #include <gmp.h>
                 ^

Hello Hamburger,

It looks like you're missing the GNU Multiple Precision Arithmetic Library development package.
Install libgmp-dev and then try to make.
