Strorj is currently running on top of Datacoin, but the dev (super3) has indicated that he will introduce a Storjcoin in the future.

He might as well just take over development of this coin.

Some very interesting points there.

How about this:
Datacoin becomes encrypted. People want to host files publicly though so they post the file keys online. Soon everyone decides to use a standard key or password for public files to reduce time spent googling, this becomes `The Public Key`. Now datacoin may as well not be encrypted since we can all access the public (and potentially illegal) stuff.
What now?

Your forgetting scale. I can't store 1GB file in the Datacoin blockchain unless I pay thousands of dollars. It reduces the use case to only small files.

That is a good point but in the link I quoted the fellow who posted it made several comments about how datacoin being unencrypted would be detrimental to those who supported it.
My scenario regarding publicly published keys was to highlight whether the lack of encryption was a relevant subject. (It isn't in my opinion)

Its not ment for idiots to publish huge files... Just use a cloud service for what you want to do.

you need some clever marketing - just sayin' The coin is totally under the radar and probably highly undervalued. Buying cheap is nice but that needs to end at some point.

altcoin with very low inflation, active community, no premine, fair distro and secure network: exactly what you want to invest in? Support Unobtanium

I forgot that I had a miner running on a server for some month now. Am I rich now or on the wrong chain? 10 connections... but the money supply does not match. What happened in the last months? Network split? Why? Is there a blockexplorer?
