Today I mined my first whole Bitcoin. I know I'm taking all the credit when really I should be thanking my 5870, but she's a been a bit hot and bothered recently so I'll congratulate her later.

Crazy I know. But I have a feeling if my GPU could actually be angry with me it would be right now. More so than that time I stayed up for 24 hours playing Crysis. But to be honest on that one,  if I was standing next to my GPU (albeit in a life like human conscious form) - stay with me - she would probably shake my hand. Having enjoyed every minute of the splendid graphics Crysis had to show her.

If knowing that my GPU would hypothetically be angry with me isn't enough to worry about, the wife hates the noise and heat that my poor 5870 throws out whilst she's mining.

So I have no choice but to quit. It was short and sweet, I probably lost more than I gained, didn't really learn anything useful but hey, they say not all marriages work out.

I wrote that whilst I was stoned so it may not make much sense.  Roll Eyes

Was trying to say I'll quit my marriage rather than mining, I love it.  Tongue

Congrats!

I'm not sure what these wives have against productivity and making money.

They sure are good at spending it!

You lucky bastard. I still only have 0.001 btc. Once my 9800GT gets back up and running I'll be good  =D

OK so I compromised with the Wife.

I have my 5870 running at around 275Mhash/s.

With flags set to -v -w128 -s0.01 Note the -s for throttling the card.

My card clock and Mem is 900/900 Fan: 44% Temps: 74%.

That way it's not to hot, nor to loud, everyone's happy.
