I always recommend you to use a hardware wallet. Because Hardware wallets are by far more secure than a software wallet. They require you to confirm transactions with physically pressing buttons. But you can use the Myetherwallet also. I think it will keep you safe from hackers. It is also user friendly and I use it.

Usualy and highly recomended by most bitcoin user is a hardware wallet because its more safe and secure to store your bitcoin offline. I never been try this before but most of them recomend this and i was planing to do the same too in the future.
Second in online wallet for bitcoin i recommend you to store your bitcoin blockchain.info app wallets it is safe and you can generate and hold your own private keys.

Hardware wallet is always better than software. You can store your assets without any problems and don’t worry about security. But you also must be attentive because hackers are looking for new ways how to stole private keys and money.

if you're only storing btc then one wallet is fine no matter if you have bought btc from multiple exchange sites. Usually people have more than one wallet when they begin investing in altcoins as many altcoins require their own wallet. In any case you could also just invest in a multi-currency wallet and consolidate. Software multi-currency wallets include jaxx or coinomi. Hardware wallets like nano-s also support a variety of altcoins.

I am a great fan of offline wallets and thus I would recommend hardware wallet. I am using Trezor since last few months and also using paper wallets as well as web wallets too. The major funds are kept in a secure paper wallet with multiple backup copies stored in a secure environment and Trezor wallet for liquid funds and web wallets for extreme liquidity but I never keep more than 5% funds on any web wallet/exchange. As far as my experience is concerned, I would be happy to recommend hardware wallet.

That's a really good question. Wallets are changing from time to time and it is very important to keep eyes on new trends.

Well lots of us or should i say over a 60 percent i guess here on the forum using mew or myetherwallet , so i recommended it too , it's easier to use and safe and hundred percent safe. And I recommend hardware based than software , but then again all are safe and trusted.

I advise you to use Hardware wallet like Ledger etc.
sometimes Online wallet software is very vulnerable attacked by hackers.

Which kind of wallet do you recommend? hardware based or software based?

for bitcoin, try blockchain.info, it is a web wallet i think. but my most recommendation is use the hardwallet.
it is most safe wallet because you have full control of it, and it is only you, very safe.
