Hello,

I am looking for help with restoring the balance in my Bitcoin Account.

In December 2013, I received 0.305 BTC into my bitcoin core wallet. I did this on a PC running windows XP.

I then forgot all about it and haven't used the PC until now. When I access this PC now, everything is fine, no problems at all, except. The Old PC can no longer connect to the bitcoin network.

I installed the latest version of the bitcoin software on a windows 10 pc and it then took 3 weeks to sync! When it finished it couldn't find my transaction, so my balance is 0.

I looked on the net and the advice I got was to backup the wallet on the old PC, shutdown bitcoin on the new PC and copy the wallet ID into the existing folder. So, I did this and when it retarted it took about 4 hours to go through the rescanning.

Now, it's finished there is conflicting information on the main screen. The balances read:-

available 0.00000001
pending   0.00000000
Total     0.00000001

On the other side of the screen, it talks about recent transactions. This screen reads

received 10/07/2017 12:42 0.00000001
sent     29/12/2013 02:22 0.00200000
received 21/12/2013 19:31 0.30500000

Everything is OK on the old PC, except the transaction in 2017 isn't there, but that doesn't matter of course!

received 21/12/2013 19:31 0.30500000
What is the address (starting with a 1) for this transaction? If you look it up at https://blockchain.info/ , does it show a balance?

If the answer is "no":

What is the Transaction ID (txid) of this transaction?

open your transaction that received 0.305 BTC, find its transaction id and check on https://blockchain.info explorer
if exist then click on your receiving address to check your current balance
this is just to make sure you don't waste time and effort trying to recover something that's already gone
the explorer will show activities of that receiving address and remind you of what you've done with it Wink

Since you have the address, unlock your wallet and dump the private key for that address, then import it into another wallet eg Electrum.

Go to Help, then debug, then console.
Then type:
Code:
walletpassphrase "your walletpassphrase here" 600
Press enter then type
Code:
dumpprivkey <address that has the balance>
You'll get an alphanumeric string starting with 5, K, or L.
Import that into Electrum to access your bitcoin.

If you want to quickly access your coins you can import [1] (or better: sweep[2]) your BTC's into electrum.

[1] https://bitcoinelectrum.com/importing-your-private-keys-into-electrum/
[2] https://bitcoinelectrum.com/sweeping-your-private-keys-into-electrum/

Note: https://electrum.org is the only (original) electrum domain.

If you further want to use core, you can try to create a new wallet and import/sweep the dumped private key into this wallet.
This issue might come from a old wallet.dat.
