Be careful downloading and opening files in .zip format.  Malware can be bound to files that look otherwise innocous.

Be careful when downloading the Bitcoin client to your new computer, it might contain a virus to steal your worthless wallet, oh wait...

I think it is best to make icons in vector, then export them to the correct size PNG when you need to. then you can make it as large or as small as you want.
