Big investors are a big risk taker too but then they need security too. Being matured and regulated cryptoccurency attracts more investors and they are confident about their investment and they will know how well their risk and reward be properly managed. Obviously as an investor you understand there are risks but out of all the exchanges out there, i can think of 2-3 that I would personally trust with my money and in my case we are only talking about thousands, imagine a big player with millions using etherdelta or some other retarded exchange, no way that will ever happen. Why would any big player invest in crypto when the risk is so huge, there is literally zero safety, any exchange can run away with your money and you can barely do anything.

first of all bittrex never fucked up anything. they simply scammed a lot of their users, closed their accounts and stole their funds.

secondly this topic is the difference between an investor and a trader. a trader is someone who uses exchanges and needs to trust them, for them the "market" has to be regulated so that they can trust it easier and invest their money.
an investor however is someone who simply buys. for example someone who has been buying (accumulating) bitcoin for years without even using any exchanges! you can always meat face to face with someone and do the trade and it is pretty common to do it this way actually. for them "market" being regulated or not doesn't matter they just need to trust and believe in the technology.

The main point for me as user is the exchange keep running and provide more transaction volume and more user that use the exchange.

I think for big investors they have a better option to purchase things over the counter if they are planning to invest in large numbers and they wont necessarily go to any exchanges to invest these huge amounts, yes there are many risks involved in keeping your coins in an exchange as there are many hacks which took all the users investment and we need to have a change in that without a doubt, the exchanges must be responsible for our investment.

While in a way you are right that no person with common sense and with a lot of money is going to invest and put his money in an exchange that could disappear immediately if he did so, at the same time it is not like exchangers are the only way to get bitcoins or any other cryptocurrency, you can deal with people directly and buy bitcoins to a whale.

Well, cryptos are new, everything surrounding them is new, we really just have to experiment with it. I just want governments to be more flexible and if the initial regulations turn out to not work, change them, modify them until everyone is satisfied. We and investors are comfortable with the price of the volatile cryptocurrency. Because the main fact to get a big profit is price volatility. Investors will dare to take risks because they already know a big profit, it is comfortable to invest in cryptocurrency.
