I'm trying to figure out how people 'trace' bitcoins through the network. I'm starting with a simple transaction (http://blockexplorer.com/address/1JENFdPvzor3J8P2eNvNNfivTf66fq5hR6) where 1d4CDdhun9HarAitF5Vf37QHDj8Gnua3r is my receiving address. Can someone explain the log entries to me?

Thanks!

The activity on this address contains two transactions.

In the first transaction:

http://blockexplorer.com/tx/ab2cfe25729628753fd93fda092114a52e91ed6639f0814946ee68dab461d19e#o1

There were two inputs:

4 BTC from 1Fx52MgcatkkZgfxA14efbf1P67z1Lrjdz and 0.00939192 BTC from 1GvnDmbWJxXvr7EJFfxqeApwpn11grqwxf

and two outputs:

4 BTC to 1AmMNTEhmVQza9nAMrbZX1dffWV3SokAGY and the 0.00889192 sent to the address you are looking at 1JENFdPvzor3J8P2eNvNNfivTf66fq5hR6

The difference between the inputs and the outputs of 0.0005 was given to the miner(s) who solved the block, which was block number 263926

The second transaction:

http://blockexplorer.com/tx/1a3e1b9d40bff7bb548acc8f35fa96e5f0063ca22853e1983d94946aeba2308c#i56046383

Had two inputs:

0.1178 from 13ke3qTu9dJpZzuosZRCprkukX9nkuC75q and the 0.00889192 from above from the address in question 1JENFdPvzor3J8P2eNvNNfivTf66fq5hR6

and two outputs:

0.1178 to 1d4CDdhun9HarAitF5Vf37QHDj8Gnua3r and 0.00839192 to 17VryHyJLSFewUNqSbGm4Ke6i7Ui2ez2Vo

Again, the difference between the inputs and the outputs of 0.0005 was given to the miner(s) who solved the block, which was block number 263941

The behaviour is a bit "strange" but there you have it.  Clear as mud?

Our family was terrorized by Homeland Security.  Read all about it here:  http://www.jmwagner.com/ and http://www.burtw.com/  Any donations to help us recover from the $300,000 in legal fees and forced donations to the Federal Asset Forfeiture slush fund are greatly appreciated!
