I am never using ethereum for trading, i am just buying them and i try to keep them for a while, i am usually seling my coins after they touch a 10 - 20 percent of profit after my investment.
That is the same cycle that i am always repeating.

It's up to the users intentions indeed, for me I use ETH as a token of investment, I buy ETH to hold and I buy also to invest with other coins which
is I believe will truly become useful in the long run, this project coin will deliver and it have a real value might be possible to reach whatever bitcoin

Buy token and transaction fee , that's enough to push ethereum ecosystem into next level not just as investment only which pretty clear proven so profitable . Price are of course what we wanted , but more adoption would always better.
