HUNTERCOIN HAS BEEN RELEASED >> http://huntercoin.org/

BETA Nodes are being taken down.

Huntercoin Beta - Human Mine-able CryptoCurrency Game Experiment (mouthful?) -

New Video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uYkXoFahtdo&feature=youtu.be

Source
https://github.com/chronokings/huntercoin
Binaries win + Mac (lion+)
http://www.mediafire.com/folder/h5f96sw56c196/HunterCoin

The Game is simple - get coins on a map and bring them back to your spawn area.
It may be worth thinking of Huntercoin as another method of mining, rather than a Game.

Don't encrypt wallet , or you will need to enter password everytime you move

Namecoin fork
Sha256 PoW (Asic, GPU and Human Mineable)
10 Coins per block. Miner receives 1, 9 goes into the game. When a player banks, miners receive 10% tax. When a player is killed, the miner receives 4% of dropped coins. So, Miners will receive a minimum of ~20% of block rewards (eventually), with a chance of earning more through player deaths.
1min Blocks
42 Million total Coins
re-target currently 2016 (will probably change)
Merge Mine-able (with bitcoin/namecoin etc)
0.15 +~0.05 Fee per Character
Coin Distribution per block

UI

Run with -testnet

example huntercoin.conf (in testnet folder)
Code:
rpcuser=username
rpcpassword=password
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcallowip=192.168.0.*
server=1

Testnet ports:
Connection - 18398
RPC - 18399
_______

Testnet is Enforced.

In a few days (if there are not any serious issues) we will release a new testnet of which the Top 5 Players will receive coins in the final release.
see http://forum.chronokings.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=5&p=5#p5 for why/how

Not too bad.

Perhaps the RPC port and suitable means of mining should also be mentioned
Code:
./minerd -a sha256d --threads 1 --url http://127.0.0.1:18399 --userpass username:password

blockchain download on windows can be painful.. at block 819

Joined. So why is syncing going so slow?

On windows, like namecoin, it is very slow syncing unless you have an ssd (i think is to do with ntfs).. don't force close it...
it does feel/seem to be faster at syncing with "huntercoind" (on windows)...
maybe download the chain with huntercoind first (have just uploaded it to mediafire in the zip)

currently the blocks are very slow .. 1.31 difficulty.. we did have someone mining with a couple of TH but they seems to have stopped (maybe crashed?). will find out later exactly the cause..
Looks like someone started.. blocks are coming in now

so we need someone to get mining on it (it's merge mine-able, so if anyone wants to help, please do Smiley)..

I have SSD but syncing was still stoping occassionaly. Fully synced now, mining with 1 USB Erupter (335 MHashes) and waiting for coins to
mature. I'll keep miner on it for 24/7 until more people join the test.

I have found few players on a map but none of them seem to be moving. Or at least they do not move on every new block mined.  Huh

Thanks a lot.. i have only CPUs and 1 nvidia card for mining Cheesy

depends if they have a waypoint or just stationary.. can u see any moving now? or did u see a chat message?

give an address i will send you coins (unless they are nearly matured)

"a15: bitcoin megastore, hello"

Characters are moving, my bad. I was not looking at them and debug window, to check if there is movement at exact time blocks are found.

Chat shows messages from up to 5 last blocks, why not more? Since messages are locally available I don't see a reason to limit chat so much,
e.g. player should be able to define number of messages or chat lines he or she wants to have on chat window. Message you posted is already
gonne off chat window.

yes thanks.. we will increase it to 10 or more.. maybe a lot more

Overally very well done, can't find any easy way to break the game or client.

It might be useful to have block height listed somewhere on "Game" tab, maybe using term TURN instead of block, so that player does not
have to keep Debug window opened to keep the sense of game time moving forward.

What is max block size? If 1MB, will it be big enough to accomodate possibly thousands of simultaneous players?

Once created, character exists until killed by other players or it can be deleted somehow?

Thanks

We use the term chronons (at least will in chronokings) = http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chronon

good idea to add block height.

it's not impossible that it may not handle thousands of players... this was really one of the reasons to create huntercoin originally (instead of spending a massive amount of time on chronokings right away). we can increase block size if needed.

Character lives until killed (by other player or by staying in spawn area for 30blocks)

Why allow more than 1 character to be created per client? Wouldn't it be more useful to have 1 client = 1 character so that direct helping
the network more (running more than 1 node) is rewarded more than helping network less (running just 1 node)? Just 1 character per client
would make game easier to play and would allow easier creation of guilds (me and my friend could opt for playing blue chars and thus align
with just that color). In gaming terms, one player should not be able to play more than 1 class at any given time using just one computer.

I think it will be difficult to enforce? also I think it's too slow for 1 character.. if you have 10 and they are spread about harvest areas, you are constantly clicking..
with 1 character it will be too slow/boring i think (also people will just run multiple clients anyway)..

but something to think about thanks for input

huntercoin is really just about mining

(lots of thinks) Smiley

more asic coins Sad

the game part looks interesting though.

miners only receive ~20% of coins (after coins are eventually banked).. + 4% of coins from a player that's been killed

With many players ingame there will definitely not be time to just idle. One will have to lookout if any enemies are around and adjust his
or her gameplay. 1 minute between moves is not much time considering there are many decisions to be made constantly. I'm playing now
with 3 characters and no one is around but I'm still lacking time, game map is huge and just finding the next possible mining spot takes a
lot of time.

Running multiple clients helps the network so HunterCoin might be the first game where "multiaccounting" should actualy be promoted.  Grin

blocks are coming quite fast atm i think..

will think about it tho.. <3

I sent one of characters to cash-out on his spawn. It did so and I left him to die. He died but now I see 20+ minutes old unconfirmed tx
with that character name (name_update: BTCMS) that reveals no data when I right-click on it and select "Show transaction details".

Areas colored purple on map bellow are far easier to access (less steps needed to get in and out) than other areas with same number of
coins per block so maybe to cut values in half?

the map's changed a little from that one.. the inner sides are accessible from the other colours sides, so are more contested

maybe the outside sides could be lowered and we could add it somewhere else.. atm, they should add up to 9 coins total on the map per block.

"FAILED TRANSACTIONS".. (something weird happens) should auto-remove the next time you restart the client
