I read a post in telegram analyzing the big candle. The speculation was Bitmex traders kept shorting and had stop losses that kept triggering higher as the price rose. Any thoughts on that? I still don't completely understand it.

A lot of Tether has been introduced in the system prior the rise, so it is likely the action of a single mega-whale. I suspect this is a classic bulltrap.

Bitcoin’s value has been lower for a long time than what it should be. This is probably the main reason for its sudden jump. Also such fluctuations are quite normal with Bitcoin as it is highly volatile. There can be many possibilities for this sudden rise. May be Bitcoin is coming back to its real worth. Or manipulations could be responsible for this unexplained rise. So they may dump at a higher price.

Basically shorts were at an all time high at 40K BTC shorts and since they mostly shorted near the bottom an short squeeze was very possible.

After the short squeeze about 15K BTC had to be covered at a loss hence price kept rising.

Yes. I think same. Whales saw all time high number of shorts. Maybe they bought 10.000 BTC at market price until 7500 USD and later to 8100 USD it was shorts covering.

There is no doubt in this that whales play very well with the whole digital market. They decide the future of bitcoin and all altcoins. Basically, altcoins depend on bitcoin and whatever happens to the king, its reflection can be seen in the whole kingdom. The present dip is also an outcome of decision made by big investors. But it is pretty much okay because they are not hurting bitcoin.

No i don't think that huge fluctuation is cause of the buying orders of investors at all. I think it's the moment that whales and sharks are trying to play the pump and dump games. Just imaging , if you have 1 Bitcoin, your profit will be 1000$ in 10 minutes. So what happen if you have 1000 Bitcoins ?

Then you obviously made $1 million, but that's only if you manage to unload 1000 BTC at such levels, which isn't all that easy with how thin order books are. On top of that, there is always whale above whale, so even if you unload these coins to scoop up the profits, the market might still be pumped up further by other market movers. The whole point of unloading that many coins as whale is that you must be sure of yourself that the price will go down further. If it isn't due to your own manipulation, then it should be a looming correction. It's not as easy as it may seem to people here. Shorting this market at current stage is never a wise choice....

Because many trader follow the news to decide when best times for entry buy and sell, so when any good news they will buy it at the same times and the price will going up. Other than that can be there are many big investor has one trader community to decide together buy and sell at the same times.

I say this increase is still normal see from the presentation. I still hope the increase price that many more. There's no support news from this increase. I must say keep on be careful on trading. Because the price can decrease at any time.

After so many dark days, if such kind of thing has started happening, then this is a very good news and that we need to be happy over it. All this is because of the volatile nature of the bitcoin and that you can expect similar kind of thing to happen again as well. You just need to trust bitcoin and that you must keep on holding your coins for longer period so that you can have more profit.

The price of bitcoin was $11k after it dropped to $6k and then dropped again to $7k and rose to $8k. It's really nothing in my opinion and I believe they're just a bunch of random investors that had put their money at the same time by coincidence.

Maybe a whale just bought it but the good thing is that the prices are now staying at the range for two days so we can hope that the price will increase in the coming days.

They definitely got a plan and accordingly moving every time. They are so smart and the problem is these whales become a team and try to control the market. Like now, prices are going down and then abruptly increases to $1000 just in ten minutes. They want to sell bitcoins at some specific rate and for that their team becomes active and manipulate the market accordingly.
