Hi, I'm new to Bitcoin and have a question for the profis.

I am associated with a political website which had over 32 million visitors during the last election cycle.  During our last meeting, I suggested  that we get involved in the promotion of Bitcoin.  They promptly put me in charge of coming up with a proposal for our next meeting in two weeks.

I need some good ideas and am sure that the administrators would be in favor of some sort of giveaway if it can somehow drive traffic from a new demographic.  Our website has made it a goal to promote the unknown, non-mainstream-media candidates on a level platform with the big boys (and Girl).  Very few people realize that there are already 57 officially registered candidates with the FEC for the 2016 presidential election. http://www.fec.gov/press/press2013/presidential_form2dt.shtml

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

What is your web site?

You could start by accepting candidate donations via https://bitpay.com I suppose.

I'm sure most of the Bitcoin community would back candidates who could push honest money policy.

If you want to do a giveaway... you could have a bitcoin faucet. Maybe attach it to a poll on popular issues, finish the poll, get your bitcoin.

I would try to get Ron Paul involved somehow... He is a supporter of bitcoin.

And definitely start by mentioning the website here....  Smiley

Please tell me you want to get rid of the Federal Reserve too.

Posting the link on a forum would violate our policy but if you type, republican candidates, in any of the major search engines, we're usually in 1st and 2nd position.

I don't think that we'd accept donations on behalf of others but publishing buttons under the individual candidates may be a possibility.  The candidates themselves would have to set up the donation accounts.

I was thinking about something like this.  We have a link that says 'New to Bitcoin? Get Bitcoins/Satoshis for free'.  That links to a page explaining Bitcoins and how to get a wallet.  We then somehow transfer them the Satoshis.  3000 Satoshis (rate for 1 US Cent) may sound better than 0.00003000 Bitcoin.

If you want to do a giveaway... you could have a bitcoin faucet. Maybe attach it to a poll on popular issues, finish the poll, get your bitcoin.

Yes, yes I do, too.
I'm wondering if Rand is also a fan.   I will look into the faucet, have no idea what it is but sounds good attaching it to a poll or something.

Here is one of the most popular bitcoin faucets..

http://dailybitcoins.org

Basically you solve a captcha to prevent cheaters and then you get bitcoins.

In your case, the poll could be the captcha.

Make sure you have good security, otherwise someone will drain you of your bitcoins.

I have a custom made faucet and am willing to sell it to you for 0.3 BTC? Please PM me if you are interested.
