Greetings

today my jalapenos finally arrived.

Now i am trying to get em running.

With the java bitminter client there is no problem, they run as they should.

Now i wanted to start mining in an other pool but cgminer wont let me.

I auto installed the usb drivers, than i took them from  ftdichip.com as requested. After that i tried zadig

If i start cgminer the screen stays black.

cgminer -o stratum+tcp://nl1.ghash.io:33344 -u myname

if i try
cg miner --enable-bflsc -o stratum+tcp://nl1.ghash.io:33344 -u myname
the command windows pop up and closes at once.

Any suggestions?

Try using bfgminer. I think you have to do something with the drivers to get cgminer running, since time is money get it going with BFG first.

+1

Afaik one of the main differences between cgminer and bfgminer is the way the address USB-devices.

The other hint involves googling the hell out of cpminer usb drivers. You have to switch the drivers which requires some odd software. I've done it on one laptop, but it's really kind of crazy under Windows 7/8.

In the meantime mine like hell; every second is a second closer to the next difficulty hop. And with bitcoin values going weird, people are going to bring GPU miners back online or somesuch stupidity.

per the cgminer readme:

On windows, the direct USB support requires the installation of a WinUSB
driver (NOT the ftdi_sio driver), and attach it to the Butterfly labs device.
The easiest way to do this is to use the zadig utility which will install the
drivers for you and then once you plug in your device you can choose the
"list all devices" from the "option" menu and you should be able to see the
device as something like: "BitFORCE SHA256 SC". Choose the install or replace
driver option and select WinUSB. You can either google for zadig or download
it from the cgminer directory in the DOWNLOADS link above.

When you first switch a device over to WinUSB with zadig and it shows that
correctly on the left of the zadig window, but it still gives permission
errors, you may need to unplug the USB miner and then plug it back in. Some
users may need to reboot at this point.

This worked for me.  I am using my jalapeno with cgminer.  Be aware though that cgminer crashes from time to time for no reason.  This is with 3.7.x, I am test driving 3.8.1 now so don't know if it is still an issue.  I posted a work around thread though for the crashes which works well for me: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=330027.0

Other problem I had with CGMiner was that it really got twitchy when I tried to run the JP and a few block erupters. Ultimately I gave up and went to BFG but I am going to have to try CG again as I upgrade the chips (if it doesn't work out of the bat)
