Not sure if there would be any interest here... but hey, I'll try anyway. I have a few 23andMe DNA testing kits available from the recent sale over the holidays. The kits are good for genotyping on their new v3 platform (~990,000 SNPs tested vs ~600,000 from v2) and the raw data is quite nifty (with it you can run Promethease to annotate your SNPs to the data in SNPedia). The kits also provide a 1-year subscription to their service, afterwards it is $5 a month if you want to subscribe (the subscription matters for new annotations and features only, old stuff will still work and you can always download your raw data). Price is 100 BTC firm per kit (shipping cost included for domestic US shipping). edit: last kit is now on biddingpond edit2: gone

The kits are the gift kits, not the $99 non-prepaid ones. Transference will not be an issue, you only require the zip code the kit was mailed to and the kit claim code, everything else should be specifiable as you wish (name, address, username, etc).

I've been kind of interested in this for a while, I didn't realize the price had come down. I'll take one of these. I'd like to use the ClearCoin escrow service, is that alright?

I'd be fine with ClearCoin, I suppose. I'll PM the details.

I'm interested. How can you guarantee that they are legit and unused/unregistered kits?

Well, if they were registered (or cancelled in some fashion) it would be fairly obvious in that you couldn't enter the claim code on the website. If they were actually used, the Oragene spit tube, mailing envelope, etc would all be gone and it would nearly be an empty box.
I would worry more about the potential that I would just not send you anything rather than a borked kit (though, in the instance of some dire issue with it I would offer a complete refund). References in the way of a somewhat high (~1300) feedback eBay account are available if that would help any.
one kit remaining, btw
(no international shipping for future reference, sorry)
edit: mistype because I am an idiot

BitterTea: don't be satisfied until you get results back! .. but then again that's like 8 weeks at this point (I'm still waiting on my v3 upgrade results)
ptmhd: If you really want to bid, you may.. though it will be at your own risk. 30 BTC would cover an Express Mail International shipment to most international locations (~7-10 days in transit).. but I also don't really know exactly when this kit expires besides April. It would most likely be 4/23 when they had the DNA day promo, but I didn't purchase it myself. It would be a bit of a gamble to have the kit arrive back in the states before the unknown date.

I received 2 of the kits and was satisfied. The lab has received our samples but is not done processing. If there were more I would probably buy them.

Companies claiming they got hacked and lost your coins sounds like fraud so perfect it could be called fashionable. I never believe them. If I ever experience the misfortune of a real intrusion, I declare I have been honest about the way I have managed the keys in Casascius Coins. I maintain no ability to recover or reproduce the keys, not even under limitless duress or total intrusion. Remember that trusting strangers with your coins without any recourse is, as a matter of principle, not a best practice. Don't keep coins online. Use paper or hardware wallets instead.
